Hi All

can anyone answer this i have heard most Z`s when converted from KPH to MPH are unrestricted / Delimited during this process, so how do i know if mine is didnt want to push it to hard as i here the limiter when you hit it is a bit violent to the engine and dont want to break it.

cheers

I don't think that is the case....

The limiter you are talking about is to do with the ecu... can only be changed with a new chip (well from my understanding anyway).

Technically, the limiter is still there, but raised due to the KPH/MPH conversion, what to, I'm not sure, perhaps jap =112 mph, whatever that is in MPH, (I think that's how it works), but if you have an aftermarket ECU, that will most likely raise it to an unreachable speed, so in essence, it is de-limited...

I also think he's worried about some "violent" happening if he hits the limiter ...

but that isn't the case, is it... does he have that confused with emergency boost??

i've hit the limiter before. i certainly new about it, but i'm not sure the car was too upset

Hi mate,

Not sure on the zed But use to have prelude vtec, limited to somwhere between, 180-190kmh - 112mph,

I converted that to mph with the special box you buy,

It removed speed limiter. but done other strange things, the way it works was confuse the ecu, so it would still be limited but instead of 180 - 190 kmh it would be 180 - 190 mph,

but on that the vtec didnt work to say over 40kmh but now it was in mph couldnt get 40mph in 1st gear so lost vtec,

and maybe it messed with everything else controlled by speed,

So could mess up hicas and other things,

Sure you would be better getting uk clocks and uk ecu or chipped ecu,

Someone will come along if im wrong and say but im sure their a straight swap,

Well mine is jap spec shell and i have uk clocks and have had no problems,

Goodluck mate.

It's violent if you hit the rev limiter at high speed, but as for the speed limiter, I have no idea, never hit it, can't see it being violent tho, but I'm not sure how it works to be honest, i.e. how it limits the engine etc....

I also think he's worried about some "violent" happening if he hits the limiter ...

I also drove the prelude to spain and was bouncing off the limiter a lot lol.

all it did was cut out and slow down a bit then go again,

never damaged it and was allways hitting it,

Shouldnt damage the zed just wil stop for a second then go again on the prelude use to feel quite harsh though when it just cut out, and then shot off again.

A decent conversion chip will convert kph to mph and delimit the speedo.

Was done to my Green TT when I got it.

I've Heard of conversion chips which don't delimit...... and perhaps it's one of those

The first time I hit the limiter in my R32 I thought something was wrong! But after a bit of forum chat I realised it was nothing to worry about. The speed limiter shouldn't do anything violent because at speed that would be dangerous - car manufacturers spend millions on details like that. Then again, if you're going full chat when you hit the limiter, the effect will be more pronounced - especially given these cars are still accelerating pretty hard at 180 km/h or 112 mph.

If your limiter is still in place then, hperthetically, you'll be limited to 180 mph. I've never had the balls to try it!
