Ok so that's a start lol.

What do I have to check?

Where abouts under the bonnet am I looking for it?

About a month ago I fitted ARC intercoolers, I will assume nothing I could have touched during that could cause this?

Just follow the wire from the O2 sensor on the manifold down pipe, the drivers O2 plug is on the bracket on the plenum next to the whitish wire, which is the vvt solenoid plug, the pass one is on a bracket above the aac top of plenum to the left of the battery, again there are 2 plugs, one is the vvt for the pass side.

You can unplug both O2 sensors and the car will run a means setting, better than only having one working.

this is my engine bay and i believe the plug you can see at the back in the middle is the one.

the one at the back in the middle is for the DET sensor, that would be code 34 matey lol

The sensor connector your looking for will be mounted just above the boost solenoids if they haven't been moved and come up from the O2 sensor on the turbo elbow, if indeed he has a turbo.

will be more or less the same location for the N/A as long as it comes from the 02 sensor on the manifold.

plug the faulty sensor into the known good side, iirc it does reach just about.if the fault shows on the opposite side you know its the sensor.Fit an oem sensor and not an e bay one cus they are rubbish. The drivers side is plugged in on the side of the plenum on the tin bracket, the passenger is plugged in usually at the rear of the plenum on a bracket behind the black balance bar that straddles the plenum. The sensors have three wires at the plug so that narrows it down.A red wire,a black one and a white wire should be present.hth.

Am sure a wee bit of hard driving or a sudden swerve causing the battery to roll will show you why it should have one now whether an MOT is due or not, but then with yer car in flames an MOT wouldn't really be needed either:glare:
