there ok cars, have a tendency for the service light to come on when it chooses, ill get hold of me mate who works at BMW and get him to give me a run down on what too look out for when buying a second hand one.

Oh and it might be a good idea to avoid one with this bonnet on it

I've read nothing but good things about the chassis - especially the lower spec (i.e: non cooper) models. Apparently the skinnier tyres brings the chassis alive, compared to the over-tyred wheels that most people prefer for aesthetic purposes.

Couldn't tell you what the reliability was like, but I imagine its comparable to any other car of the same age and value. BMW don't make terrible cars.

I reckon its a pretty cool little car - its just a shame they called it 'Mini', because it clearly isn't. Maybe 'Medium' would have been a better name?

yeah bmw, they reckon there a good car, drive well, but as said a few people ive known just havent clicked with them?

looking at the interior its a love or hate thing imho

Sarah`s got the cooper version, she absolutley loves it!! had it since nearly new and never had a problem until last week... she came home after a weekend away and it was making a knocking sound like the crank had gone!!!! we sh!t ourselves!!!!! and thought ..this is gonna cost big time,, took it into Haliwell jones (Southport BMW) and it cost £130 for a new ancillary belt, bloody expensive for a belt but thank god it wasnt the engine, even the AA man thought the engine was goosed!!

Overall they are great cars, and very fun to drive

They are great cars and pretty reliable. They can suffer with gearbox problems in the earlier models. They can be a little thirsty as has already been said also, the parts prices are shocking tbh Bri,i knew someone who had a mini one and the rear section of the exhaust rotted out and Mini wanted £350 for the part, thats the rear section not the whole system  But id say buy away mate they are not nailed together like Austins effort.

thanks for your feedback lads...taking her to b/ham (2 hours) manyarna to look at one

good thing is though, eurocarparts.co.uk have taken the bmw brand on and part's are considerably cheaper, also they do 25% discount order code weekend's

My Sister had one for a couple of years, never had any trouble with it. Felt like a solid well built car, fun to drive and fantastic interior (imo). Ride is on the firm side.

She only sold it as could not get double pushchair and car seats in it (she had twins).

and gsfcarparts.com too (them and ECP are the largest independent parts suppliers in the UK). :thumbup1:

only issue i have heard of is failing radiators.....after 8 or 9 years the rads can develop corrossion issues and cause the cars to overheat . other than that a very nicly built machine, not in the same league for mini frugality when it comes to petrol but then again its the size of a golf and comparable to that !! ...interior is funky and airy and the chassis is very forgiving......more "in your face" than a golf or astra

:pint::pint::pint: a drink each for your feedback i say

im guessing it wont be cheap to insure for a young lady, with the badge the desirabilty and the expensive nature of parts.

bought her a 52 plate in blue with the double sunroof option,100,000 miles with dealer history and no issues at all except a couple of 1 penny sized tesco dings on each door (job for the dent doctor)...seller wanted 3K and got him down to 2,800 notes,i wanted more but he would'nt budge and daughter wanted the car so there you go. insurance is £1,300 for 20 year old girl,3 years no claims so thats fine with me. Anyone want to buy a 93 micra with tax and MOT for 300 notes:biggrin:
