Hi, I bought some pentproof manifold and The garage can't get them to fit. I have a greedy 16g setup.

Has anyone had any problems with them???

I'm ready to throw in the towel on zedding with this like. It's doing my head in. Below is the images the garage have sent me of drivers side turbo outlet pipe from various angles. As you see the pipe cannot line up properly because the manifold sticks out.

He wants me to advise how to proceed and I just don't know what to tell him to do at this point other than just get it done somehow.

A garage cant tell you how to sort the problem? Id find another garage common with aftermarket turbos the hosing needs to be rotated slightly which is down by releasing the clamping bolts on the impellor side or the turbine side of the turbo then it will move that out of line of the manifold. I had to do it on a set of T28s not long ago.

IIrc kits were available years ago for those,Youll have to get the garage to get some pipes and hoses.Speak to AnthonyD on here for the hoses and get a stainless steel exhaust place to make the pipes. You could first make them out of plastic pipe to get the angles right then use them for patterns.Sounds like the garage isnt really trying to hard to get the work done though.

And get them to heatwrap those manifolds too.

Thanks both of you. I spoke to nend about this as he did modifications to some of the pipes etc and supplied the manifolds. He pretty much just said the turbo housing just needed to be turning like 5 degrees.

I think the garage should have just known to do that. I've not had the car for like 5.5 months... Not all the garages fault though to be fair but I wish they could pick up the pace a bit.

There is no chance of Duncan picking up the pace as he only has two speeds dead slow and stop! Hope you have agreed the price as he will bill you per hour!!

  • Author

Yeah we agreed an estimate of anywhere between 600 a 1000. That's a massive gap but everyone else was £750-900 just to take the engine out so was the best option to leave it there. I spoke to him the other week about the cost as I am concerned the car is there for so long. He asked what he'd quotes me and then when I told him said it would be probably be right on estimate :/

The problem is that no one would give me a price

I just spoke to Duncan. He's telling me they're having a nightmare with it because now the pipes are sitting 2-3inches further out than they would normally which would probably be right because of the turbo housing being turned. He's not sure if the engine will fit back in ok as thinks there might not be enough room.

What do you's think?

Now you know why :whistling:

Jeff TT

I think he is cutting it fine to be ready for JAE lol

Good luck with it Lee, i hope it all gets sorted for you.

everything will fit the pipe may not secure back onto the plenum side bracket but that doesnt matter

Completely get why jeff but complaining about things not being perfect rather than just getting the job done isn't great though is it?

For example if I'd given it to ZedWorld I would assume you'd have just got it done or said this is the situation and it will cost you a little bit more etc. Am I wrong to think that???

Update:

Spoke to Duncan today and he's advised the engine won't fit back in and that the Pipeworks needs to be made up.

So I'm having no zed the jae. I'm gutted about it, I'm really starting to get sick of being a zed owner, I've spent so much on it but then end up with problems.

I have to wonder though if the work thy are going to do is really necessary. Nend provided the stuff and it's normally spot on from him. I can't check anything though as I'm in sunderland and the cars in scotland ffs

  • 2 weeks later...

Plenty of pics here, showing a 20g (I think) with Pentroof manifolds, look at the drivers side (bearing in mind this is a US car)

Will have a look at my manifolds and see if I can help you out with photos.
