Hallo all,

this is a really completeist, pedantic post and a particularly nit-picky question.

We have discovered that the DVLA figures about how many 300ZXs are registered in the UK are wrong. Somewhere between the street and your V5, they make big mistakes about what your car is - I suspect many of you have been registered as a Z31.

Not having the correct figures is a) irritating and b) doesn't help negotiations with suppliers like insurance people.

Me, I am not going to get involved with suppliers - that's for others - but I would like to know how many of us there are.

I reckon this forum has a significant fraction of all 300ZXs in the UK which might help in negotiation with people (eg Nissan Motor and their damn fool look-up charge). But we need to know a little more reliably than the current wrong figs so far.

If you want to help with this, please check out the below list of chassis numbers. Is yours correctly listed? If not please let me know.

More info and a better laid out table is at

http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~webster/chassisnos.html

The list is:

HS30 240Z 1969-1973 UK 2 seater coupe

HLS30 240Z 1969-1973 LHD 2 seater coupe

RS30 260Z 1973-1978 UK 2 seater coupe

RZ26 300ZXTT 1990-1996 USA LHD N/A 2+2

RZ27 300ZXTT 1990-1996 USA LHD N/A Convertible

CZ24 300ZXTT 1990-1996 USA LHD TT 2 seater coupe

CZ26 300ZXTT 1990-1996 USA LHD TT 2+2

The idea is to gather the supporting info and talk to the DVLA in May when 2001 info should be available.

I will also be e-mailing Will at Datsun Owners Club and the zclub and people like Andy Pingram who I know know a lot about this sort of thing. Just not tonight!

Cheers pedantically

Yep, well-spotted b19rks. I got this link from AndyP http://www.300zx.org.uk (I think - boy, do I get confused with all the Andrews / Andys / Glens / Ingrams / Pingrams etc - but then I'm dense!)

It's been cross checked and seems to work. Anyone got any more?

Remember the point is to get a list of numbers (or pre-ambles) which match the cars we have in the UK.

Thanks again, all - hopefully this will all prove useful for every forum member.

NA (2+2) : JN1RZ26....

TT (2+0) : JN1CZ24...

both cars are LHD and US-imports

GCZ32 300ZXTT 1989-1999 import TT 2+2

although my V5 states GC232 and the engine number is VG30 and the cylinder capacity is wrong and my address is spelt wrongly and the car should really be a K not a J. Aside from that they got it perfect !

Thanks for all the posts. All chassis nos / model types so far match the list so that's a relief!

Summary so far:

GCZ32 J TT 2+2 8 42%

RGZ32 UK TT 2+2 7 37%

CZ32 J TT SWB 2 11%

RZ26 US NA SWB 1 5%

CZ24 US TT SWB 1 5%

So mine's favourite, then wink.gif

Surprised that imports are in the majority tho.

Official figures over the w/e I hope. Thanks chaps & chapesses. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Hi toger13 - I don't have any list which has JN on it (except lymon's from an earlier post).

I just checked under the bonnet on the panel and on the V5 and the VIN/Chassis is the same on both:

GCZ32-5*****

So no JN. I wonder if your number (and Lymon's) was taken from the underbonnet panel as mine says

Model KRGZ32 JSHE6 just under where it says Chassis.

What does it say on your V5?
