help, i think i've broken it.

right was having a really productive day off got my new exhaust sorted, wrapped and fitted then had the bright idea of finding my oil leak, (thought to be rocker covers)

after fighting all day got the job done turned the key and... cough splutter dead.

does the same every time, if you open the throttle slightly it doesn't die but its not right.

on top of that their is now a water leak? and i didn't find any sign of an oil leak...

water leak is easy to fix any idea what to do about running sh!t?

ecu code 53- 02 sensor right side? i didn't touch that, ran fine after exhaust was fitted.

any ideas it was so reliable till i tried to fix something... :helpsmilie:

removed the entire plenum, and the rocker covers, fitted new gaskets to the rocker covers just in case they were the case of the leak, and refitted everything.

Did you fit a new plenum gasket? also did you reseal the outer cam covers with sealant? you don`t mention that, it is possible an error has caused an air leak, try starting the engine with the air flow meter disconnected, if its starts and runs better, then an air leak is the problem.

yeah used a sealant on outer covers, said it was good for making gaskets and working with oil. and used brand new gaskets on center covers,

yeah used new plenum to manifold gasket, and new tb and egr gaskets, (bought a whole kit)

the sealant was left to set for an hour, but was only used on lower covers and only started the car for a test, wont be using it for a few days.

im not the best mechanic in the world so more then likely i've made a mistake, will take it all off again tommorow and try again.

will try disconnecting the afm first,

thanks .

wanted to but then realized i didn't know how with the engine in so didn't bother,

same with egr had a z1 eliminator but have lost the exhaust manifold plug somewhere (possibly in my old zed, now gone) so couldn't do that either....

sounds like the throttle boddies butterflies are either misaligned or have come loose and are not at the position they need to be on tickover..have you checked that they move in unison and theer is no slack or play until they open ?

have you plugged the 02 sensor in the right plug?i remember on my old zed i think det sensor and 02 sensor were connected wrong way round and cause a few issues, also check electrical connectors on rear of plenum they could be loose/dirty causing problems

right stripped it all back and strated again, its alot easier second time around lol,

and amazingly, (as i found nothing wrong) started first turn of the key, and runs fine.

however the water leak is still their and i dont know where the pipe goes...

its located at the drivers dide back of the plenum, i tagged every pipe and their was nothing for it?????
