It would be easier and cheaper going the skyline GTR33-34 route.

Same size discs at 324mm, the brackets are easily available, well they used to be, loads of options for different brand discs.

350Z brackets are usually only sourced from the US, not many options for discs and they are also 324mm not 320mm, yes you can fit the rears but involves a lot of work, only know 1 guy here who's done it, search and you will see what he had to do.

cheers the only reason iam looking at this upgrade is cause i just bought yellow stuff pads for the car and wasnt really happy with the brakes still, i came across a 350z in the scrapyard 2day good discs and can get them cheap, so would they be much of an improvement, wouldnt have the funds for a gtr setup at the moment

Ignore me, thought you was on about calipers

Edited by murt

you will find if you overhaul the calipers front and rear and use DS2500 ferrodo pads or similar the stopping power is really very very good and a much cheaper option than bigger discs and all the buggering about thats involved in it......

Right okay, if the car in the scrappie has Brembo calipers on the brakes, then take them and the discs and fit them, no brackets needed.

The above are 324mm sized discs

If it has standard Nissan calipers it really ain't worth the grief as they only 296mm sized discs and you'll have to get brackets made up to suit, not a simple cheap job tbh.

In short though, larger sized disc with standard calipers can be an improvement, however 324mm is the largest i would go personally with brackets.

the discs defo are 324mm x 30mm but the calipers are silver, i thought the brembo calipers are gold, iam not to sure now if there are brembo or not i found these brackets would these do?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/240sx-12-75-big-brake-upgrade-300zx-calipers-brackets-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5199a8eca1QQitemZ350470335649QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Mine look like this.....

These are the relocation brackets you need for keeping the standard 300zx z32 caliper and replacing the standard 300zx z32 disc/rotor with 350z brembo fitment discs/rotors, and of course new pads of your choice.

Much better to buy the Calipers and Discs. They are substantially larger calipers than the stock Z items, and you dont have to go about getting brackets as they just bolt straight on.

Forget about fitting the rears though.

Edited by Yowser

do the rears not bolt on no?

no, you would have to either look into a relocation bracket, or do what others have done which is to cut and reweld the mounting points on the hub.

yeh, but their not big compared to my AP racing setup :p , and he's got access to a 350z breaking.

Alan is right though, the EVO setup is a great brake upgrade option in terms of size and cost, if you dont mind getting some brackets fabricated. The calipers are available very cheap as they are not as well known about as the GTR/350z brembo's.

There are plans out there for the brackets, Alan probably has a copy ?

Evo V and higher....

My set up (still to fit.... :crying:) is Evo VIII calipers, Evo EBC yellow pads, relocation brackets and 12.8 tensile bolts, 350 Brembo discs and Evo brake lines are a direct fit.

And there's me thinking that it does not matter about the size of the caliper.......mmmmmm, Where did I hear that before.....

Biggest name in braking........

Brembo or AP.......

For Stopping distance - no ....for heat dissipation and fade resistance - definatly, yes ;)

So Brembo is better then.............

Brembo are a popular Standard manufacturer fitment, and make a very large range of Calipers.

AP Racing are the big name in Racing.

are u putting them on front and back

No matey, only front. The caliper size will not affect the braking distribution from front to back. Some people that fit BIG front calipers..... have had issues with this.
