Hi Guys,

If a put a new MAS AIR FLOW Sensor on does the car require a retune.

Just wondering as I have purchased one from ebay (New) but on there website it states clearly a 300zx will require a retune.

Is this correct or shall I just go straight to Nissan for a new one.

Many thanks

Dave

as far as ime aware the ecu will "self learn"

no it wont require a retune

Either reset ecu via datascan or similar software,or disconnect the battery overnight ,some say an hour

Personally,i wouldnt even bother with a reset, new maf will self learn

have you bought a copy from Ebay or genuine Nissan one? IIRC the copies gave overfueling problems and were a waste of space :(

Clearly the person selling has no clue as already said it won't need a retune.

What's the link?

Be aware many of the e-bay afm`s are copies, very good looking ones too, with the same Nissan part number and label however they are of dubious quality and almost all I know who buy them report that they simply do not work, if it is the one`s around £90 the price says it all, genuine Nissan one is more like £300, are you sure you need one?

Right, this is where I purchased it from

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-NISSAN-300ZX-Twin-Turbo-Air-Flow-Meter-/330313334857?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ce8358049#ht_780wt_905

But its here a different seller On this one it states you need a retune

Jeff,

I bought one as I was under the care of a garage that said it would be a good idea. (Trusting them) I did it as I can change the air flow meter myself and cheaper labour. Don't ask me to test it.. I don't have the tools or knowledge except screw drivers and spanners.

I put the new one on for a short while but idle become erratic and cut out. So I put my old one back on.

regards

Dave

Tell them you want a refund cos it cuts out your car. They can't argue if you tell them you've tried an original one from a friends 300 with no problems ;)

Mmm.. yes cheap copy with dodgy electronic`s, ask for a refund if they want to know why refer them to me ( email on our web site ) if you wish, I will send them a report on the issues we know of with them.

By the way no tuning is required when swapping an afm all automatic.
