Head unit won't power on

Woops!

Hit enter..

Anyway, like I was about to explain, I got my new head unit today and picked up a PC2-13-4 adaptor and plugged it all in but nothing happens. In fact the only thing that does happen is the antenna goes up and down about every 40 seconds. Prior to my new Sony head unit, there was just the standard factory Nissan gear in place.

I think the issue is that ground isn't in the correct position on my ZX. Not really sure what to do as the ground just simply appears to be missing. I've checked out the wiring diagrams on Gios website and everything Stereo > ISO > PC2-13-4 looks the same, but then from PC2-13-4 > 300ZX it looks as though there is no ground on the ZX in the correct pin location. I'm assuming this is why it isn't turning on.

Is there any way of telling which the ground wire is on the ZX?

Thanks

Make a new earth, I had the same issue, the black wire on the main iso connector is ground, bypass this and ground it straight to the chassis.

Mine came straight on after the fix!

Yep black is ground, also the aerial plug acts as a ground too, mine wouldnt fire up till i plugged the aerial in.

Working perfectly now, cheers guys!

Now what to do with my spare DIN slot.... hmm.. has anyone got one of these or something similar? eBay Link

I like the idea of that, although it does look shockingly cheap and poor quality. Something similar maybe. Do any of you have a DIN cubby with a flip up lid?

Somebody on here had one of those, but I think they had problems with them.

Most choices are Gauges, cubby hole, lighted Z logo or boost controllers for the lower slot.

I built a frame that allowed me to mount my Blitz SBC and powermeter into the lower rack of the stereo mount and it fills the slot very nicely, without looking stuck on with velcro.

I'm pretty set on easily accessible storage as opposed to anything decorative. Car is stock at the moment and I don't think that will be changing in the near future so gauges and boost controllers aren't really something I've thought about to be honest.

The ZX does seem to be lacking in storage quite significantly :D
