people love it or hate it! I love my iphone & now I am out of contract am hanging on for the new iphone 5 to come out :hyper:

 

Apple like to keep specs undercover until about 5 mins before release date so there is lots of speculation - what do you think/hope it will have?!

 

Things I have read are:

 

dual core processor from ipad2

slightly bigger screen

8 meg camera with better flash

NFC built in for a virtual wallet

64gig version

 

loads of more obscure predictions also!

i work for orange and we had apple onsite doing some promotional work, the originally planned for sept release but now believe its going to be end november/beginning december. They never intended to release a white iphone4 but were forced to in order to try to pacify peoples desire for something new

My 3gs will be about out of contract by then so I think i'd quite like a 5.... The 3gs is actually my work phone but its on a contract paid through my company credit card, might just keep the 3gs as my work phone and have the 5 as my personal phone... :D Would I look a total bummer with 2 iphones tho...?

My iphone is due for renewal in November, so yeh Im hoping to upgrade to the iPhone 5.

 

The new spec (rumours) sound good to me, and if its anything like the iphone 4, which is so beautifully made compared to the cheap grey and black plastic of other smartphones , then im definatly getting one.

apple make quality phones, best on market for quality. and i have 7 or 8 top spec phones from iphones, to galaxy s2, htc sensation, motorola atrix.

i love my iphone, dont think id ever change it to anything else. once jailbroken, best phone ever lol

I think you'll find that Samsung just produce some of the components, as do a lot of mainstream electronic manufactures but who owns the factory that actually produces them is hardly relevant, and Its not about fashion, its about quality.

 

Im glad your happy with your Galaxy thing though.

My girlfriend has the galaxy & it's a load of crap compared to an iPhone!! She thought it was fantastic & kept going on when she bought it. After a week she said she doesn't like it! Now wants my iPhone when I get a new one!!

 

As for apple not making it - you don't think Nissan made the Z then do you?!?! Look around your car, you will find parts from loads of different manufacturers! In fact this is quite the norm in most manufacturing industries!!

Samsung galaxy s sorry but another iPhone wanna be phone, that just doesn't do it, and if you think that not being able to run flash on the iPhone is a handy cap for the device, your very much mistaken.

I'm an apple guy, i had a top spec mac pro and i use a mac book pro for work.

 

I've got an iPhone 3Gs at the moment but decided i would wait after iPhone 4 for the S version or an iPhone 5 - whichever comes first.

 

That phone won't appear in September, there's been leaks of reports saying that the tsunami has slowed production of the parts they need to assemble the new phones so i can't see it arriving till after Christmas.

 

The one to look out for is iPad3 which should be here this year with supposedly a retina display - at that point i might just buy one and a Samsung Galaxy S 2 which is an awesome phone from what i found trying it out in the shop.

 

There's also a google nexus 3 phone out in september with a QUAD core processor(!) and amoLED display like the galaxy s 2

No, as in Samsung even assemble the phone, Crapple make **** all, comparing them to Nissan is ridiculous. Nissan do what most manufacturers do, they purchase various parts that exist, they commission newly designed parts from other manufacturers, then they put it all together, to compare them to Crapple, who literally DO NOT MAKE ANYTHING, is obsurd!

 

I work in the IT industry, cloud to be exact, for a silicon valley start up. I get to see an awful lot that the normal public will never see, and quite categorically, Crapple are CRAP! Not to mention the most evil, devious company in the world.

 

Samsung make the majority of the parts for the iPhone, and they assemble it, or at least they did before Apple decided to sue them for releasing a black phone with curved corners!!!!!! WTF is that about? They own the copyright on rectangular, curved cornered electrical devices now do they? **** OFF! My friend asked me what I did the other week, I said I was a cloud engineer, he said, "Oh that thing from Apple?". That company is what is wrong with computing these days and I wish they would die!

 

If there are problems with your girlfriends Galaxy S, she's not upgraded it to the newer Android software, it's nothing to do with the phone itself, it's to do with certain carriers in this country, releasing it with an older, not particularly stable version of the Android OS. Just plug it into a Windows machine via the USB cable, install Samsung Kies (Horrible software but it works) and let it upgrade the firmware on the phone, or take it to a PhoneBooth store and get them to upgrade it over the counter.

 

Seriously, how many of you quoting that the Crapple shitPhone is the best thing ever in the world, have even tried the Samsung Galaxy S or better yet the Galaxy S II? I will concede one thing and one thing only, that the Mac OSX is a good OS, so long as you're not giving it to someone who knows how to do anything more than change their password, failing that, it's not powerful, it's not big, hard or clever and it's a complete rip off, of lots of other peoples hard work, mashed together in a restrictive, overly policed interface. They steal and cheat constantly from others, then they sue people that compete against them when they have no grounds to.

Its very clear your issue's are with the Company, rather than the iPhone itself. I could not care less who makes the iPhone and who does'nt. I have no interested in Apple, outside of the iPhone itself.

 

It also makes no difference if the company manufactures in house or outsources, its the design and engineering that is done by Apple - the important stuff.

 

and Yes, I have friends with the HTC desire, Galaxy S2, LG 2x optimus ...etc and I could not be happier with my choice.

I agree, I love the iphone for what it is & how it works - there are so many people with such strong views for Apple.

im actually interested to hear what these restrictions are, because at the moment im yet to find one that stops me using my iphone how i want too.

 

So far ive managed to put a custom ring tone on it, watch flash video, use the web, record video, take a photo, use it as a GPS device in my car, make and recive phone calls, stream audio from my iphone to my Bluetooth car head unit, tether it and use it as a modem, play some of the most intuitive games available, send a picture via text message, check my emails, get on the forum, watch porn, copy and paste, take a screenshot of what ever is displayed on the phone, customise the home screen, get half way through a text message while receiving another text, answer the other text message then come back to the original text message i was typing and finish it off and send it, download torrents linked to my PC from the hand set its self, get a wifi signal from stupid ranges, post on the forum.

 

Upload a photo to photobucket directly from my handset and then post the same image on to the forum, messenger live, google earth, tomtom.

As for iphone taking things from others and applying it to there own, well its swings and round abouts, there are a lot of companies doing the same with apple, they take what apple have done and apply it to there own product.

 

I watched an avert the other day for a new nokia, it uses the same duel touch screen to zoom in and zoom out as the iphone does, IE: pinch to zoom in, spread to zoom out.

 

i have friends with samsung Galaxy's S, and Galaxy S II's and i can still honestly say, that although they are a good phone, i still prefer my iphone.

 

Wouldn't have a Mac though. PC through and through on that front.

 

Ooh and once you jailbreak your iphone and get away from apple, there really is nothing the phone cant do.

Had a go of loads of phones, and not found one I like more than the iPhone.

 

Dont care if its made by Apple, Sony, Samsung or Blackberry, Corporate BS does'nt bother me all I'm interested in is the end result to the product I own. And for me the iPhone does it better than any of the others.

Well i'm testing the iOS 5 Beta on my iPad2 and iPhone and its great so far.

 

Loads of extra features been added to every new build and now delta updates work.

There's a new episode of South Park call 'The HumancentIpad', you all have to watch it :)

Ian with the greatest respect, your first post in this thread was about jail breaking it, you can't comment on it not being restrictive and not finding anything that won't let you use it how you want to, because you've already opened it up to do whatever you want. I'm not denying that the phone hardware is good quality, it's made by Samsung after all (Yeah I know, the foxconn thing too, but still), just with shit software, unless you break it open, which you shouldn't have to do.

 

Don't panic Jaikai, I'm smiling behind the keyboard as always, yes I hate Apple, yes with a passion, but I'm happy about that fact :lol:

 

Another problem with Apple, I tried to subtly point out by quoting my friend saying that cloud was made by Apple, is that Apple do things second hand, always, I don't think it's ever actually done anything first hand in it's existence as a company, yet almost everything they do, because of the way they market it, everyone thinks they came up with it. Apple is not about innovation, at all! Apple is all about capitalisation on other peoples ideas, then trying to patent them before the original inventor can, just because they have more money and resources to do so. Same reason I will not have an iPod, the portable MP3 player was out WAY before the iPod and it was better!

 

I personally do not like Apple one bit, as you may be able to tell, however, I am an Apple Engineer, I used to repair them for a living, configure them on networks etc. I can install and run an Apple Only Corporate Network, including making use of Apples XServe Server products, the reason I do not like them, has more to do with just how poor and how insecure and how stolen their software is than anything else, I developed my dislike for them over many years of dealing with their products, then reading the tech news of late and joining an American tech company who swaps engineers with Apple on a bi-monthly basis (i.e. we steal one of their engineers, they, or more usually Google or Facebook steals one of ours, etc.) I've discovered that not only is their software of very poor quality (By programming and security standards), but that they are also a company completely without morales, yet the world wants to put it's trust in them for a few shiny devices that someone else invented, that someone else made, that Steve Jobbs stuck a crapple on the side of.

 

All things being equal, I personally prefer Android to iOS, it's more flowing, it's far more user friendly and far more open and way less restrictive. If someone genuinely prefers the iPhone then that's fine, but I doubt anyone who does has really given an Android phone a proper spin, or at least not one with any guts. When I got my Galaxy S around December last year, it had outsold the iPhone extortionately, despite not being well marketed, despite not being any cheaper, despite not looking much different and despite the iPhone being available for a far longer period of time, you tell me which device people genuinely found better in their hand, and which one was bought because of marketing propoganda :D

That took me some time to write, sorry lol

I had a galaxy S, infact I still have it. Its now awaiting its third screen as its made of chocolate. I found it slow and buggy, even with the latest software totally unhappy with it. I even treated it with kids gloves but its just died over and over again. Mainly because its built poorly and has no structural strength. The iphone (coming from me who is the biggest apple hater..!) is a well built and nicely designed bit of kit. It is true I'm on my second one, but the first one put up with endless abuse and only died when it fell from my lap from a big pickup, bounced of the side bar on the way down and landed face first on a road.... Even then th phone worked perfectly well apart from the glass was all smashed.

The galaxys first screen died when I lent against a wooden fence and it was in my back pocket. The second died when it fell from my pocket onto a RUBBER floor and shattered. So badly so that the LCD split, so I couldnt actually use it at all and was left without a phone for days until I could get home and resurect old faithful for the 3rd time (an elderly Sony X1).

I personally love apple products. I had a 3GS and now have a 4. I have 2 iPads, one in the car. Tried several android based pads such as the galaxy tab and they were all crap in comparison. As far as I'm concerned you can't get better than apple. They are sooooo easy to use too. Bought an iPad for my mam as she couldn't master the computer. She gets on great with the iPad though.
