As there are many mentions of correcting camber when lowering the car etc, I was wondering what are the correct front and rear camber figures for the Zed ?

Presumably as the ride height is decreased, you get more negative camber ?

Any decent tyre/tracking specialist should be able to tell you the correct settings for your Zed. When you get your tracking done they always ask what model and year it is so they can upload the manufacturer's settings and compare them against those.

If you have fitted adjustable suspension bits, then why not experiment a little bit? If you want a bit more turn in, tweak the toe and camber settings. Alternatively you could dial in a bit of safe understeer if your car is too twitchy etc. The more toe/camber you add, the quicker the tyres will wear, but on a weekend car, I wouldn't worry about it - you have to use pretty extreme settings to kill the tyres prematurely.

Generally a little toe in will sharpen steering response. A little toe out will increase ultimate grip but reduce sensitivity. More camber will also increase mid corner grip at the expense of tramlining on bad surfaces and reduced braking ability. The manufacturer settings will almost certainly be a comprimise, whereas you could go for a slightly more aggressive setup..

I still have stock suspension, I was just after knowing what is the correct amount ie: -0.5 front 0 rear etc.

When (how ever far down the road that is) I get to lowering the car a little, I don't want to go beyond what the stock camber arms can take.

I presume -20mm is about max, then obviously I will want to adjust the camber to ball park before I take it to get properly aligned.

Having little trust in some of these places, I would like to know what the settings should be ;)

front camber -0deg 50' +/- 45'

front caster 9deg 45' +/- 45'

total front toe 0deg 08' +/- 8'

rear camber -1deg 05' +/- 30'

rear total toe 0deg 08' +/- 8'

HTH :)

Is that the same ^^^^^ for both LWB and SWB mate?

Good point JS :) Although I imagine they would be the same ... not that I understood what the tolerances are measured in :blushing: but I got the info I was after :)

The manual doesn't seem to list 2+2 and 2str differently. http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi

You need to be careful, though, as several places I used to take mine to only had 300ZX Z31 settings on their supposedly infallible computer. Now I always take these pages from the manual just to be safe!

Oh !

I assumed the front and rear camber was adjustable on stock components, to a degree at least.

It would appear not, at least at the front ? :o

There used to be a shim kit so you could adjust the camber. But haven't seen those for years. The solution is as PaulC put in his thread. Coz at ConceptZ still sell them (blue ends below). Watch out because some of the others as sold on eBay (pic with set square) are out of alignment (welded on the piss, I believe the engineering term is) and can never be adjusted properly.
