yep 1000miles 16mpg @ 140.9 for petrol £400.34

good luck :-)

Cant speak for your actual Z ofcourse, but plenty of us have taken trips across europe in Z's, doing a lot more than 1000 miles without issue.

It is a grand tourer after all.

I would expect an extra 10mpg for a long journey like that, certainly mid 20's mpg. Depends how you drive it ofcourse.

On motorways I get close to 30mpg and that's with a Meines ECU. Granted I'm running standard injectors and standard or at least close to standard boost, but all the same, it doesn't do badly on long runs at all! As others have said, it's a GT car, it's designed to be doing 50 - 70mph for long periods of time, it's the short, sharp bursts with all the sudden stops that can cause you more problems.

think mine has poor drag issues, huge tyres and massive rear wing, never get above 18mpg.

Assuming its all in good order and doesnt overheat then there is no reason why it shouldnt make it... Most I have done in mine is probably stirling and back although that wasnt in one hit of course but thats a 400 mile round trip. The only problem is that it snowed in the middle of it so the Z was stuck at a hotel for 3 weeks...!

But its unlikely to snow in Wales at this time of year, let alone norfolk so you should be ok :)

If your so worried, take some WD40 and some simple tools with you. Check tyre pressures and tread wear etc and make sure your AA cover is up to date!

Agreed!

My other cars are much newer (2009 and 2006) but the ZX is always my choice for holidays and it has never let me down so far!

it's in good order new plugs, oil filter and so on. I think il take it, you guys have given me faith in the old girl. not going to be thrashing it as i will have the missis with me and a car full of camping gear. just need insurance now.

if its running good and has no heating problems then go for it. i took my zed to south of france for carp fishing, there and back just short of 1200 miles, great fun on the long roads, cant remember what it cost, but worth the fun.

At least your in the UK, if you do get stuck there plenty of members across the country to ask for help.

I don't think twice about taking mine anywhere and it has never let me down. Its a great car for those long journeys, I always feel ready to go when I get there, the seat is so confortable.

That is so true - the ZX is one car I can drive all day and not suffer from aches and pains etc. Nissan got the comfort and ergonomics dead right IMO....

Yeah I should probably have pointed out, I drive mine from Doncaster to London and back every month for work, although I've had things stop me from setting off before (Leaky Rad cap for one) I've never once broken down, or had anything happen at all to stop it on the trip. My PTU came disconnected once on my way to Surrey from West London, but that was my fault for not putting zip ties around it when I replaced it, and I knew the clips were broken.

Totally agree with Gary here - mine is only used as a daily driver - 20 mile round trip each day (half of which is country so it gets a good thrashing) and touch wood it's hardly ever let me down (I say hardly ever due to the water pipes perishing and losing coolant but that was 4 years ago!) and purely because I don't do long distances in it, I find it hard to trust it. Totally unfounded of course - just take some oil, coolant and some tools with you and I'm sure it'll be fine!
