If your looking for a rear bumper, give me a shout mate. I've just removed a standard Jap Spec that will end up lying about my unit.

Also, since it looks like you've "caught the bug" you might want to think about subscribing. It'll be the best £20 you ever spend on your zed ;)

whoops, i missed this post, aaw class, how much you needing for it??? could pick it up next week, or maybe even the weekend :)

Welcome to the club mate!!

And my learned friend here makes a good point......

Its not that the auto boxes aren't very good, they actually are, problem is, the auto is suited more for motorway cruising, where as the manual is suited for basically giving it the beans.

Treat your auto box well and it will treat you well in return.

A lot of the problems associated with the autobox giving up the ghost, id assume would be to do with people ragging it about and basically putting it through what it really shouldn't.

......not to mention that the oil cooler on the J-spec auto 300zx is not really up to the job of coping with the harder driving conditions here in the UK. So to preserve your auto 'box, make sure that the transmission fluid is changed (properly - ie empty the torque convertor as well) by someone who knows the 300zx. And then, upgrade your 'cooler to the larger UK spec item.

The auto 'box is not bad, as Nissan did their best to match it with the high performace characteristics of the car. Whilst it cannot compare with the latest generation "sequential" autos produced by Mercedes or BWM etc, it is still a better installation that what you might find in "ordinary" cars!

My advice would always be to buy a 300zx in the best condition you can find; whether that be an auto or manual, J-spec or UK. And enjoy it for the car it is!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

£50 and its yours.

It's just been removed from my zed and has been smoothed over. (Had all the rockguard removed)

Gimme a shout if your wanting to pop down for it. I'll be at my unit working on my project anyway.

not read the full thread but congrats on the purchase, autobox is really good (well mines is) plenty of fun to be had, dont listen to folks opinions too much as they are just personal opinions, my opinion is the autobox is ace, but hey...i can drive it

Im 25 and drive like a loonatic at times and enjoy driving like a rally driver through the gears....... But the auto box on the Zed is awesome and i dont think ill ever swap it for manual :D

after 4 years of having my teeth shaken about in my head over potholes in the mr2 the autobox is the least of my concerns haha, i'm just enjoying the big cruising capabilities, the roads where i live are shocking but the zed just glides over them :D kinda grown out of driving around like a loony as well, so i'm loving the autobox :D if i do get bored, i 'll convert it to a manual as the car is in pretty good shape :)

True !! I sold my MR Tubby last year and sometimes I miss the manual box but then I cruising in the Zed thinking ye I'm loving the auto and the kickdown anyway.

Enjoy matey :cool3:
