how reliable are they?? a guy on the mr2 owners club had an auto(dunno if it was a turbo) and he says the autoboxes aren't very well built???

I know you seek assurance and you may well get it, but why don't you wait for a manual to come up - problem solved

i'm not really fussed if it's a manual or an auto, just trying to find out what the autobox is like :D

Its not that the auto boxes aren't very good, they actually are, problem is, the auto is suited more for motorway cruising, where as the manual is suited for basically giving it the beans.

Treat your auto box well and it will treat you well in return.

A lot of the problems associated with the autobox giving up the ghost, id assume would be to do with people ragging it about and basically putting it through what it really shouldn't.

pretty much what i've been told, think i'm past the stage of raggin it around all the time now anyway, i'm swapping my mr2 turbo for it, it's small, cramped, very harsh on the road, i really think i've outgrown it, so i fancy something big like the 300, hmmmm, going for a drive in thing tomorrow so if i like the autobox i think i'll go for it :D

Nice to see another member potential zed owner in scotland.

Is it a private sale or from a trader?

Best of luck with the buy i think it looks cracking make sure you have a peep at the buyers guide saved my butt when buying one i took it with me and walked away from one due to the boost guage being faulty, but i would of baught it if didint read the guide this club supplied first

yeah it's private, straight swap for my own car, :thumbup1:

also, i've looked at the buyers guide, very useful indeed :punk:

I have had my TT auto for three years and it has never missed a beat it is so smooth and climbs the gears very well I also have a Mercedes 240 C class auto which is 6 years newer and the Nissan auto is far superior. So if you buy a good one and maintain it you will love it the secret is getting a good one.

na auto and tweed. leave it, get a manual with leather.

yeagh looks like tweed and an auto but its a tt

not too fussed about leather, have leather in my current car and i can't stand it, my back always ends up roasting on a long drive :winkiss:

that's reassuring about the autobox though, thanks

Looks to be a nice one mate, also appears to have the parking sensor. Yeah it's the tweed which a lot of people don't like, me included, but it can be changed easily and cheaply. As for the autobox, pull out the dipstick (lefthand of the bay from front) and have a look and sniff of the fluid. It should be red and not smell burnt. That said a lot of people haven't had any trouble with there autobox, others have had nothing but trouble. It's pot luck really.

Good luck with the test drive.

cheers mate, i will deffo check that, yeah it does have the parking sensor, i'm hoping it's as good as it looks, only has 105km on the clock (hopefully genuine lol), only other thing i can see wrong is it has a dent on the rear bumper, sure i can pick a bumper up cheap enough though, going to see it tomorrow at 18:30, so i'll post back once i've been out in it

Looks good pretty much the same as mine was, look for a series 2 interior makes a world of difference not as rough material and can be picked up pretty cheap and an impul auto gear selector is the dogs, shame about the slight bump on the reap bu,per but you should be able to pick a black one up easily enough!,btw does it have a rear fog as been a jap import? cant see seperate on back unless the previous owners built it into the reverse light panel? looks like a powerflow exhaust these are usually quite loud aswell!, hope all goes well

Also when i had mine my throttle cable was loose make sure this is tight makes a world of difference on the auto with the gear changes!

I miss my two autos! My old TT auto was taken round silverstone and castle combe and didn't miss a beat in the 2 years i owned it.

Very smooth and very underrated IMHO!

i did wonder about the rear fog myself, it's just been mot'd sp there must be some kind of fog lamp, unless he only had it on for the mot, ooooh, what's this gear selector thing you're talking about????

cool, really looking forward to having a go in this now, what are the basic upgrades available for the 300?? like, simple bolt ons?? and what kind of power should i expect?? on my mr2 i have pretty much everything that can be done without forging the engine etc...

  • Author

just took out this 300 for a wee test drive, very very impressed, just smoooooth relentless power, no nasty noises or smoke, the thing felt just awesome, and i was quite impressed with the autobox too, sooooo... picking it up tomorrow night once i sort out insurance on it :D

  • Author

also, was very surprised by the amount of power, i know the auto are meant to be limited to 279bhp, which is about the same as my mr2, but this thing would easily outrun my mr2!!!
