just removed my speedo to send to groover for a led conversion :thumbup:

 

so i fitted the one from my dead zed, but the speedo reads completely wrong now, i noticed they have different converters fitted (both are jap spec) it now reads in kph i thijnk either that or i was just doing 100 down the motorway and spo was the police car in front...lol... but starts at 10kph, so standstill = 10kph???? wtf? then reads far too high???

Did the needles get knocked

also sounds like you didnt change the MPH/KPH converter over?

didn't think i knocked the needle, might have done, but yeah the converter s were different and as im refitting my old one when its been LED'd i wasn't going to spend ages redoing the converters, just confused at why it reads 10kph at a standstill.

You might have had a dodgy ebay convertor on there, some of them had problems creating results like you are experiencing.

mine only goes to 20mph wotever speed im doing, cant wait to get stopped by police and tell em i was only doing 20

MJP or Luke at the zcentre. They are more expensive, but there have been issues with some of the ebay cheapies, not all just some, but if your unlucky to have a slightly dodgy one, then it could be wise to get a well known guaranteed convertor.

 

For the price though, i would pay a bit extra and purchase some UK clocks.

Mine is a series 4 though, so no quick clock swap option I believe ?

Ah, yes, then a good convertor will do the job, in fairness too, it depends how some people wire theirs in, some use the screws on the rear of the speedo, some solder to the track. Where its wired in may play a part in the signal reliability imo.

ah my old one is soldered in ( its still attached to the speedo) where as the breakers one is a separate unit wired into the loom, i was planning just to run in KM for a while didn't know it would be off by so much though.
