As above, just wondered if a Z32 had ever competed in TOTB.

I know that a couple of 350z's have had a crack over the years but what about the 300zx's

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

just so you lads no bobgenie did well. i was there i saw him do a 11.9 1/4 160 summat top speed and a 42 seconds on the handeling. he just never gave up on enything he was at it all day poor car. but 11.9 is good and he couldent get off the line to well its a quick car. but i dident go today for the finels so well done fella

Well done to Bob today, kept trying despite some problems. Disappointing day for me though, mainly as I was zedless having had a terminal engine issue in the week. Don't know yet what caused it so will strip her down this week and go from there.

there's always next year!

Damn, sorry to hear that Jaffa

nice meeting you today Bob. hope you get the issues sorted mate. saw some 13.5- 13.7 1/4 mile times from you, so i expect something wasnt right.

Hi guys, I've just got back home and the car is back in the garage. I had a great time at TOTB and have to congratulate the organisers for a fantastic event. Thanks to Riggers for some support on Saturday and James and Coolq on sunday (and of course Pete who always gives much appreciated advice). I have never done 1/4 mile as it never really appealed to me so it was quite an experience. Riggers is right that my best times were first thing Saturday morning and I did see a decent 1/4 mile and top speed run but from about midday on Saturday I lost all boost and did the rest of the weekend without turbo power or NOS power :) Having said that I persevered on the drag strip and learned a lot. And while I didn't do very decent times I think I've got the bug for straight line stuff :) On the handling circuit we did a little better but no boost did cost a bit of time I think. Here I'd like to think that the car did not disgrace itself and the 300zx found a lot of fans at TOTB :) next year will be back and hopefully will put this years experience to good use. I would definitely recommend going to this event and it's going in my diary now for the future!!

Bob was a bit disappointed with today as sometime late on Sat he suffered a huge power loss. probably a boost leak. Consequently the car was way off any proper times today.

I have to say the car looks great, handles really well and stops when asked also. We just need to eliminate the final few gremlins lurking in the car.

saturdays early results were VERY encouraging given that Bob had never done any of the three trials before.

TOTB is now in its 10th year and as far as I know this was the first time a 300 took part.

What is very evident tho from my first visit is the great atmosphere and friendly demeanor of almost all the competitors and organizers.

We will be back next year . With Jaffa and maybe others.

im 100% for next year too, will be focusing on circuit times, not 1/4 mile runs after seeing many a 10 second cars today, even a 600hp civic. SHOCK!!!!!

Think I met you Bob I was working on the green 22b next to you admiring your 300ZX I was the guy with the barn find black one I spoke to you about.

It was the first time we had ever moved the car in anger and finished 10th in the handling and did an 11:04 quarter but he missed a gear which resulted in the bottom end failing at 170mph!!!!!!

Good weekend though and if it was your White Z I love that car its so well prepared.

Daz.

Just looked at the pictures!!!!

It was you next to us as we can see!!!!

Would have liked to talk more about the Z but we had some issues as well and you looked busy!!!

Daz.

And I was the other guy with Bob.:chef:

we had a very busy weekend and it was a steep learning curve for a pair of first timers:crying:

sorry to hear about your missed gear incident.

Im sure Bob will be along to reply as well. We are already planning for next year.

i will take a little part of the complement on the car as I had a hand in its conception and build. Fortunately I did not do the engine/turbo install cos we lost power/boost. The guy who is or maybe "was" responsible will already heard from Bob on the subject:scared:

great to meet you guys I was going to ask if you were members of the club but then we all got very busy and then you got off before I could say buy and then our engine let go!!!!

One of those days and too hot for turbo engines as well.

Hey Daz was good to meet you too. And we were busy but not so busy as you and by the sound of it your car is going to be fast!! Still not sure why mine lost boost but gonna have a look next week - could be a blown turbo but we shall see. I'm gonna stick with my engine guy as it least we made it to the event and I was pushing the car hard so things are gonna go pop. Pete was instrumental in the look of the car and had a big hand suspension wise too. We'll be back next year maybe you'll bring your zed too :) we're trying to get a five man team together :)

The plan with my Zed is too leave it as standard as possible to the UK car apart from stainless exhausts so might not be quite as quick as yours mate!!!! LOL

We hope to have the Subaru out again for the start of next month now and my Zed on the road about the same time if I can get the bits for the right money???!!!!

Maybe see you at another event when we all don’t have so much on?

we're trying to get a five man team together :)

I might be interested in joining in. :thumbup1:

There seems to be a lot of 400-500bhp zeds on the forum

Yep, but bear in mind Bob's is making about 700 bhp

Yeah, i was thinking more about the backup :)

Actually I did mean a five 'car' team and I reckon it would be a really good experience. Also we could help each other in respect of mechanics, wiring, and all the other possible issues which might be found at an event. Look at the SXOC and the GTRforum who all had four or fives extra hands working on the cars to make them work.

Yeah, i was thinking more about the backup :)

That is one of the key ingredients to getting a successful club team together and working well on the day.

If club members who are not going to use their car on the event(for whatever reason) came along to offer whatever skills they might have it will go a long way to making it a fun weekend for everyone. Drivers and helpers alike.

I'm there with the Subaru which should be reliable and would more than happily help and who knows maybe with my Z, just need to sort the sill and then suspension and tyres and we have a runner the rest can be done as and when, I hope!!! LOL

Pete and Bob have seen what I build and work on, well one of them!!!
