This might sound stupid, but have you cleaned the battery terminals and the wires coming off it? Mine were all oxidized and gunked up so a quick wire brush and clean made the world of difference. I tried the maf and the ptu etc and she still had an intermittent fault, but since i cleaned up the battery, she's been good as gold.

check out this link... there are loads of things to try for hesitation/misfire/etc

ok just been out checked the connections and even jigged up an extra earth ..

still the same

I had a similar problem, well still do actually, but to cure the problem on mine I unplugged both O2 sensors, runs fine with them disconnected, as soon as I reconnect them I get all sorts of mis fires and bad running, gotta be worth a try mate!

all brand new pipes on the boost side and 80% of the vac pipes have been replaced ..

do need to do a vac test

i have had 3 lots of sparkys

2 lots of coil packs

i now have brand new Coil pack connectors

Brand New PTU and Connectors

Brand New Injectors and Connectors

i have the right connections as all was Numbered up

the Nock and O2 sensors are diffrent plugs 2>3pin

It may have been o2 and coil pack,

know couple of them were similliar.

If you numbered them should b all good..

These cars are never straight forward i only puy my engine in couple weeks ago,

The cambelt went on my old engine the little pulley between all the cams pulled the thread out from where its bolted.

The new engine had what looked like a new waterpump on it which collapsed within 2days.

So i put another used pump from my old engine and a couple days later its gone again. the viscous dont seem right compared to my old one, seems to have movement which i think is knocking the pumps out. thought i may b tightening the belt up to tight so 2nd pump left it more loose and gone again,

Bet when u find it its something silly, giving you loads of problems.

But your forgive it for all the trouble it causes soon as u drive it again.

I allways do lol.

goodluck.

just spoken to Zedworld ..

hes said by what i have done it could be the ECU ?

what u guys think

is it because your using 555 injectors without a 555 chip????

Would have thought the 555s would just sit there half used without another ECU, wouldn't expect running problems. That being said, the ECU could well be the problem. at the end of the day, if everything else is working/replaced and tested, the ECU is the final thing that runs it all, so failing a severely damaged loom, ECU would be a good bet I'd say. I have a series 1 Auto ECU sat on the shelf, nothing better I'm afraid.

lol oh dear i will explain again

Car working fine

engine went bang ..

engine block all my working stuff like inletmanifold/turbos/sensors/pipes

swopped over ..

engine will not start right pop pop bang bang missfire like mad ..

So i have changed

coil packs 2 sets

injectors 3 sets

all coil/inject connectors

spark plugs 3 sets

all with same problem ...

i now have Brand New

555 injectors & TDA55 chip install in to ECU

PTU and Connectors

Brand New Boost and Vac pipes i can say there is 99.9% of no leaks

Still the same problems

the only thing that is left is the Main Wire Loom & ECU

try and put the ECU into test mode, if it doesnt go. its broken.

I'd say swap out the ECU as a test, surely someone can lend you one to try? If that fixes it, see if you can get yours re-mapped or buy a replacement, otherwise, could be the loom. Was the loom known to work before the car blew up?

yeah the car was working fine .. oil pump failed tuck out the engine ..

i re-chipped the ecu but I'm good with elecy stuff as i do it day in day out

but remember the problem was there before touching the ecu to chip it

You do something with the dial that's on it, I'm not entirely sure myself though, there's a guide somewhere on here though. Have a search for ECU Test Mode

cant remember exactly best forum search it, very easy takes 5 mins to do :-)

Yeah I've just stuck a manual ECU in Roses car, which up until last Wednesday was an auto, works perfectly! In addition to that, mine has always been a manual, but it looks like someone stuck an auto engine in it when the last owner blew up the original engine, I've got a manual Mines one in mine and it runs the engine perfectly well :D

that's fine just wasn't sure as per wanted thread didn't know if they was com-pat

oh and how to i tell if mine is a S1 or S2 ECU

If your car is an S2 it should have an S2 ECU, but I should imagine there isn't a lot of difference between ECU's, someone may correct me there though as I'm only guessing.

mark if you want to try an ecu give me a call , im not a million miles away
