made a start on fitting me coilovers but could do with couple bits of advise, firstly do i need to use the upper plate off the old front suspension for the new ones? 2nd despite fitting the rear shocks and matching the same distance on the coilovers the drivers rear is about the right height but the passengers rear is right up in the arch and rubbing the wheels! wound it up and it doesnt make that much difference! thought they would both be the same distance apart if you know what i mean!:confused1:

not sure on the front plate dan, but I never swapped them over on mine, just fitted the coilovers as they are. And yes if the rears are adjusted to the same level then it should sit at the same height both sides! Have you got a leak on one maybe?

put some pictures up dan so we can have alook at what you have done mate :detective:

send jeff a pm he should know he took them of :smartass: but i wouldnt of thought so just the gaskets

I fitted a set of TEIN mono flex to my Z. The fitting instructions told me not to use the top plate off the orignal shocks. For height settings you need to ensure the overall length of the shock assemblies are the same. You can compress the spring more of less then alter the spacing between the bottom of the spring to the bottom fixing point. Double check these dimensions.

Dont worry Dan as soon as it stops raining they will say it again :lol:

As others have said..... just fit the a new gasket nothing else required

you may have the preload wrong

slacken off the spring adjusters (2 c collars) so that the spring is loose then tighten them up so that the spring is compressed by about 5mm or so that they dont rattle around, then lock this adjustment off, you wont need it again. then set the lower adjustment to be equal each side, this is the ride height adjustment and should result in a roughly level car. if the car is still not level then you either have the wrong rate spring in one of them or a snapped coil.

another thing that could effect ride height (but not this much) is if a suspension bolt which passes through a rubber bush was tightened when the car was not level, thus acting like an additional spring.

think it will be the preload though

sun is out today so hose pipe ban on the way!

Dan, the top plates will not be needed from your old shocks, your new shocks have them fitted.
