Hey,

Wanted to know your opinions on powerflow exhausts, my mates got one for sale for £100. Just a couple of months old and they are an oval shape. So they look quite nice but i have no idea how they sounds or about their reputation.

Anyone care to give some advice :)

Poor. HUGE levels in variation on quality and the pipework is a mongrel steel that corrodes. I'd avoid.

got to agree with Monkey just taken a powerflow system of a shorty that looked a bit worse for wear only been on the car 2 years also i didnt think the oval tail pipes looked all that imo

Which one would you guys recommend, as i dont really want to spend a fortune, rather i cant :P. Custom joby?

As said before, Mongoose.

It's decent stainless, looks virtually stock which you wanted and ain't noisey.

Oh and it ain't pricey either and often available second hand.

Custom, is big money for deffo!

Smithy

Custom would normally be expensive. Mongoose seems a favourite. I'm pretty sure mine is Mongoose and it's in pretty good nick, I've had the car nearly a year, and I'd say it had been on there a couple of years before I bought it.

Powerflow is custom...but it's cheap...and nasty!

Awesome thanks for all the help guys, will be going for mongoose one as it seems to be the best choice!

Got a stainless Powerflow twin exit from a lwb cut down on my swb hillclimb car.....sounds fantastic 104 decibels s/h when I got it and still going well its about 6 years old with no holes .... so somes good somes bad!!!!

That hurts

I have had a Powerflow on my twin turbo for 4 years now, apart from a gasket and a hanger been faultless. Mine is VERY loud though. Did get it decatted at the time as well. The branch has since gone out of business but I got Calder to sort it out. Hope that helps.

yep decat and the car is completely stripped of everything not necessary....it gets tested at every meeting and reads 102-105 db everytime at about 4800rpm oh and its a NA

Esbee that's just insane! I thought mine was loud, and mine really is LOUD!, WOW!

So if it was a cat would it be a lot quieter??

If it has turbos it's usually a lot quieter!

Sounds exactly like the kind of advice an old friend of mine once gave on the Powerflow product....

....so I have to agree with the primate.......:thumbup1:

There are much better systems out there for not too much cash. The Mongoose has been mentioned and the Japspeed article is a good product for the money also!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

They are cheap. Having a system fitted is about £250 or there abouts depending on what you're having done.

You compared them to quality factory produced items and you'd be surprised you ever thought the Powerflow system look good quality.

They have a lifetime warranty, but you need to take them back to the place you had them fitted to get them checked every year.

Like he said; although for a ZX they'd charge you £500-ish+ over here......

........ So you'll get a much better system for less money if you go with the Mongoose or Japspeed.

So does Powerflow have much of a presence in Eire Monkey? I guess there might be an outlet in Dublin possibly.....
