Turbos not working?

93 twin turbo, no mods.

The turbo boost gauge only moves to the 0psi position when foot right down. Does this mean both turbos have packed up? If only one how can I tell which one?

Is there any maintenance I can do, or is replacement only option?

same thing happend to mine m8 i had 2 get new ones but what i did to find out the problem is take the pipe off bettween the inter cooler and inlet manifold the big pipe!!, do one first rev the engine and u should get quite a draught coming through the intercooler, replace the hose and then do the same procedure to the otherside, on mine one was blowing a lot more than the other which indicated it was the turbo, try it see what happens.

From what people have told me if one turbo fails then the other turbo cant supply enough air to go into boost so you wont go past 0 on the gauge. Its an engine out job to change them and it would be foolish to do only one as the other will have the same mileage on it. You cant fix a turbo yourself as it needs balancing to very high tollerences. Andy duff on here is in the middle of changing his at the moment and will probably have some good advice if you send him an E-mail

Good luck

Paul

FastRedZ, Did you take your Z back in for that noisey new turbo?

Not good when you have other mods planned. wink.gif

Yeah that sounds like a deffo seized turbo Gary frown.gif To be honest there isn't really any point in finding out which one has gone as you may as well do both together. Engine out job unfortunately - got mine out at the moment. If you need any pointers then send me a mail or gimme a call on 07801735117 and I'll give you more info on the job etc...

CheerZ,

Andy
