Don't know about the advanced timing, I thought the Power button just allowed the car to reach higher revs before changing gear?

Manuals don't have this feature.

No the power button doesnt affect timing in any way. In power mode the gearbox holds the reves for longer between gear change, if you boot the accelerator it automatically goes into power mode until you ease of the pedal. The hold mode, starts off in second for wet weather.

Manual cars as steams said, doesnt have one or need one.

so do i leave it in power mode or off ?

yes i seen the power mode come on if i boot the car does the peddle have an over ride switch ?

I usually leave mine off, the pedal switch is similar to the pwer mode button, it kicks it in automatically when booted via the auto ecu.

are we talking about the neutral switch thats on the auto gear selector ?

It's more to do with the Auto inhibitor switch that stops the engine starting unless the box is in P or N. You need to link this out as the car won't start.

You can wire it into the clutch pedal switch, which would mean that you would have to put your foot down on the clutch pedal before you can start the car.

that's what I understand anyway but might be wrong.

You can also just wire pin 44 to ground and ignore the switch.

I,ve was told if you did this the tickover will be high cos the ecu isn,t altering the timing :confused1::confused1::confused1:

Haven't heard that mate. I'll be grounding mine and I'll report back if it affects tick over.

IIRC....... When the auto is in neutral, it retards the timing 10 degrees, (15), and when in drive, it goes back to 25 BTDC, so you can either ground the neutral switch so it's at 25 all the time, or ignore the switch and advance the timing via the CAS to 25 whilst ticking over, as the gearbox (manual) can't alter it.... Something like that anyways :)

I have also heard this from an expert, your revs will always be higher because the car will think that you have the car in gear and you are about to pull away, so it advances the timing.

Right, looks like I'll have to have a re-think about this then.

So Neutral switch on gearbox to pin 44.

Had a play with mine today:blush: lol , you get a deffinate engine pitch change when you put it in gear from neutral . HTH

Yep, look at my reply a few posts back :)

if pin 44 isnt done would it act like a Rev limiter ..

as i'm having a few problems with getting the engine running ..

i think i have a problem with some injectors but not sure ..

car wont start its missfiring all over the place but if u blip the key it will start and kinda run but wont tickover and will only rev out to 3500 and then die untill u let off the throttle a little

any ideas ?

Check your maf plug and temp sensor for corrosion and fit.

Some people just leave the neutral switch and dont bother connecting it to anything so it wont have the effect your describing.

The maf would restrict the revs, but no wouldnt cause a misfire, check your injector connectors and coil pack connectors, PTU connectors. Did you disconnect the fuel lines by any chance when you where changing things?

  • Author

yes .. all fuel lines from top of engine to the filter and return was taken off ..

why

  • 2 weeks later...

on the auto plugs .. on wing

does any one know what the pin's are for Neutral

as the auto box used this in the loom and had the neutral conections
