Lightweight crank pulley now engine temp rises at higher RPMs

under normal driving its fine, but at higher RPMS for long periods ie 100mph/ hard acceleration, i notice that the temp rises... anyone else had this issue?

i time you need to get a different pulley for you water pump to overdrive it to keep it cool ive read about it before sometimes you get away with it i think

ordered one. be here in a few days. but was just hoping for some feedback from others, as i know most run just the crank pulley and have no issues.

Yep Gonzo is right, by fitting an overdrive pulley it then spins the water pump at the correct speed to fan as designed.

Also as Jap and UK water pump pullies differ in size, might explain it too.

Oh and yes it doesn't always effect everyone and tbh there will be a few that don't even notice when it does happen!

 

Anyways though yer engine or tubs was goosed, fitted another one already?

I run an underdrive pulley and boost at 14.5psi. Ive not had any problems, but i have an uprated radiator installed.When driven hard my temp rises about 3c to around 85c on my gauge if thats any help..Lee

they are mate, but having new ones fitted in about 2 weeks and just got sidetracked with this problem and forgot to ask about it.

I've run with an underdrive crank pulley for a couple of years and not noticed any problem - I have a Koyo rad installed so perhaps that helps...

UK cars have larger water pump pulleys than Imports.

 

If yours is a UK, you can swap to a Jap pulley to speed the pump back up.
