After deciding a few weeks ago to bite the bullet and polish my plenum up, I bought one of them halfords alloy polishing kits that someone mentioned.

Seems now that I have the bug, polished my inner rocker covers up today (cant really see the outer ones when its all back together so didnt bother with those)

Can someone help me throw together a list of potential stuff so I can have a think what else to do whilst the car is in bits? :sweatdrop:

Plenum

Throttle bodies

Rocker covers

front water pipes

P/S Pot

Opened a can of worms there mate!! lol

How much was the polishing kit? Worth the money you reckon?

It was the halfords alloy, brass & copper polishing kit, comes with a hard mop and brown first stage polishing compound, and a soft mop with blue final stage compound. Mops fit in a power drill so easy to use. Well worth it I'm certainly impressed. I have a trade card and it was £13, but its only a few quid more without one.

bonnet stay

balance bar

Dont think you can polish the balance bar Baz? I had mine chromed :thumbup1:

bonnet hinges and catches, the little rings inside the headlights can be polished really nice, your bell end aswell:biggrin:

Sounds good mate, I may have to invest in that!

It won't work on footballers you know Rich, you can't polish their performance with it......

I'll give it a try and see if I can prove you wrong! :tt2: and dont really fancy taking the headlamps apart :(

So what did you use to grind down the plenum?

orbital sander with wood sandpaper and a LOT of time and patience

The headlamps aren't too bad matey. Once you get them out they're pretty straight forward to strip.

I used a heat gun for stripping wallpaper, did the job a treat. Don't forget to undo all the screws that hold the rubber on and the clips.

really easy to do mate.

might give it a bash then. If its worth it just for polishing that ring up?!

Give the lenses and the glass a good clean as well, you'll notice a big difference if you haven't done it before.

 i hear your good at polishing your ring off:rofl:

true dat

Polish the: allen bolts for the throttle bodies,

top of the Air intake valve,

i tried polishing the balance bar, but you cant get into the crevices between the pipes, so painted it instead.

I also polished the bolts for the cambelt cover

he cruise control unit,

PAS pot

I will have a chrome bonnet stay going when ive fitted the bonnet dampers.

All those can be polished up and will look great for as long as you can be arsed to constantly keep them buffed up and coated with polish,Its high maintenance so be warned.Leave it parked for a bit and its damp and the white corrosion comes knocking in droves. The rockers can not be got to so will go first trust me.

just look at beegee Vinz rides, theres everything you can possibly think of polished in there.
