In fairness though if you bought a second hand engine with turbo's etc and only just fitted it and now it's gone tits up, something was on it's way out already, albeit a turbo or piston/ring

This is exactly why I went for a rebuild and not a transplant..

Luck of the draw - even if it was sold to you with the best of intentions. Without stripping it, its impossible to be 100% sure - even if you get it compression tested etc before fitting.

It really is crap luck mate, but the VG is the achilles heel of these old girls - when they are working correctly, its also the best thing. Don't let Hollowpoint hear you talking about RB25's (RB26 FTW!! :tt2:)

Only kidding hollowpoint!!

Aaron... I am here around 5pm tomoz if you want me to come over...

cheers alz, left the car at my mums as it broke down in that particular town, im now home and missing it. :-(

way too much oil in the exhaust is normally turbo related.

In my case it was a mashed piston and ring, dripped out as i drove up the road, well until the cops stopped me that is lol
