JaiKai Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 (edited) Bit of advise on this one please folks. Just bought a manual conversion to fit my 1996 TT but the current auto radiator is busted at the top and is beyond repair, so what's my options ? Will I now need to replace both the auto radiator and oil cooler ? Or is the oil cooler just for the auto? Ill be wanting to get an uprated radiator when I fit the conversion so rather do that stick in another auto radiator from a breaker. What's the cleanest route if replacing the autobox and radiators ? Cheers folks. Edited May 23, 2011 by JaiKai Quote
vodkashots Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Bit more info for this post, the TT Manual Gearbox, has oil pipes that connected to the underside of the car. Quote
AlanZ Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 Deff get an A/M radiator, better cooling for ur 300 matey. Alz. I can supply u with a polished A/C spec aluminium bracket at a good price..... :sneaky2: Quote
Stephen Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 the manual box doesnt use the box cooler. depending on wether its uk spec or jap spec you ill have differnt configurations. japspec its simply a loop through the rad on the right hand side and you stand infront of it, about half way down. uk spec it passes through to under the air filter, where there is a small oil cooler situated. its all upto you matey, if your switching over to the manual box the simply delete it at source, its not required. as alan said go for an aftermarket rad for safety and reliabilty, teh oem one is adequte at best, esp if your running higher boost etc. good luck with it. hopefully you wont end up with what i found, which is taht it was running through the rad and cooler in series, the problem there being the cooler being used was my engine oil cooler. one very well ciooled box, one hella hot engine. The manual gearbox you have must of come from a UK zed if it has oil cooler pipes, UK zeds had a cooler fitted just in front of the rear subframe, no need to worry though simply link the pipes and forget them, no need for it. As far as the rad is concerned as you needing to replace it anyway then for £140 you may as well go for one of the alloy ones below.
