An LPG conversion is around £1500 isn't it? Plus where does the tank go?

And you get miles per gallon - LPG will catch petrol just like they did with diesel once they conned everyone to go 'dirty' oilers!

tank can fit in the spare wheel,

will take a few years atleast before lpg will be 1.40 a litre so best of getting one converted now as youll reap the benefits whilst its worth it.

to get your money back on lpg depends on how many miles you do a year, bearing in mind lpg is only used once the engine is warm or atleast that was the case when i had my 7 series lpg.

Theres a few years yet for lpg to catch up with petrol prices and we sell lpg for 68p ltr..As for the tank im removing the petrol tank to fit a toroidial inits place and having a fuel cell where the spare is.you can install the lpg system yourself and get it certificated at any lpga approved garage saves you around 700notes:cool2:

When you say 'install it yourself' did I ever tell you that it took me 3 hours to change the left side headlamp bulb last year!! And I'm not a slouch - I just built this:-

D-Day is this weekend when I find out if there's more problems with th elow oil pressure than i thought.

My idea was put a BMW 330D 3 litre straight 6 DIESEL in there with the loom, should fit nicely and it's still a 6 cylinder :)

I can't wait to go into my local Nissan dealership and ask for a Glo-plug for a 1994 Nissan 350zx-CDi Coupe 2+2....................

If you ever really were going to do that, then what about the Merc 350cdi or the Jaguar lump - at least they are V6 engines....LOL

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The simplest reason for not fitting a high end diesel engine is that it would take a good 30,000 miles at least to recoup the cost - and you end up with a slower, less enjoyable car to drive thats been an absolute ballache to convert.

Modern performance Diesel Engines are not cheap second hand. Then you have all the custom fabrication of Engine mounts, bellhousing adaptors, piping and wiring looms. Plus the Z32 engine bay is not very tall which introduces a lot of problems with engine heights. You'll need custom fabricated sump and/or alterations to the Subframe, which causes issues with steering rack position - introduces bump steer and other suspension alignment issues. Not to mention all the downtime of the car off the road. Everything always takes longer and costs more than expected.

If the car is too thirsty to afford to run - is spending thousands trying to make it more economical the right way to go?. Use the money you would of blown on converting it and enjoy driving it instead, or buy an economical Daily driver and use the Z for fun.

LPG conversion makes more sense than a Diesel conversion. It can cost a lot less to convert, making it easier to recoup the costs and performance/driving characterstics should not be significantly affected.

this makes a lot of sence, another top post mate:thumbup1:

Put a VW V10 TDi in there - get it chipped to about 600bhp and 800lb/ft of torque, and then laugh like a nutter when you get single figure fuel consumption and it handles like the QE2!

:devil2:

who?, any info and pics?

Mickey, one of Chunks mates-you must remember him mate!-no pics I'm afraid......

Mickey B did this ages ago!:ninja:

We were told he was producing Biodiesel and him being a mechanic apparently dropped a diesel in his Zed as a rolling advert , since been told he,s now took it out
