Chris......if you could get a few more £££ mate I would go for a BMW 316 or 318 tourer over a Laguna tbh. :) Make sure you get the chain driven engine if getting a vectra or it wont last long lol

what engines are chain driven in the vectra then?, i had a 2002 laguna before briliant car good on fuel was a 1.8 but i had electrical problems from day one was looking to get one without any elec problems though, i am stretched at my £800 budget thos, other option mrs said was to sell 300, we then started to talk about divorce very quickly lol

Yeah Lagunas are renowned for electrical faults....too much going on in them really. Bit over engineered! :)

I had a 2 litre vectra and I am sure it was an 'ecotec' chain driven one. Better google it though lol

wow. thats cheap. but its a 1.8 so im 95% sure its a belt drive. still if you get it changed it will be a good motor. those engines are known for having a few oil leaks though. especially the rocker gasket. give it a good look over if you go see it.

^^^^^^^ agreed. Better than the Laguna in my opinion too.

Ive been offered an e36 328i sport tourer for £800.

Sooo much car for the money..

Think im getting an e46 tourer tho..

this is hwta happened to my 02 laguna gearbox, bloody thing lol <a href=dscf0942g.jpg' alt='dscf0942g.jpg'>

and i had to bloody pay £150 quid for a new keycard as i broke em twice in me pocket

I hate to sound boring but i bought a 2002 plate mondeo estate with the 130bhp diesel in, i can honestly say one of the most fun diesel cars i've ever driven.

Easily 45-48mpg and up to 58mpg on long hauls, bags of room, quiet, comfy and seriously quick especially when overtaking.

You can pick them up for just over a £1000 now

v70 dont look bad but description: The car's cam belt and water pump are non-functional so it is not able to be driven lol

ford mondeo estate what i got 2001,biggest boot in the whole range cheap and reliable

I've covered 15,000 miles+ in 6 months and i have no complaints about mine. Plus it's the same chassis as the V70 estate with a citroen diesel engine, great combo in my book :)

I think you have all forgotten the Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia X Estate - obviously the sensible man's choice! :punk:

seriously though, mondeo or focus tdci is a great shout..cheap, plentiful, easily fixed...golf and passat tdi also decent value and go on forever.....left field choice..well specced octavia estate for the same money??

the 2.1 turbo diesel engine are pretty much bomb proof. i had a xantia 2.1 td and i done over 60k miles in it and only serviced it once!!! and they run on anything red, chip fat etc. we also have a customer with a 406 2.1 td which is just coming up to 300k miles

Owned a one owner xm 2.5 td estate, it was cavernous, comfortable, quick and frugal...and it had been 335k miles when I bought it....

Been driving a VW Passatt estate for quite some time now, love it to bits and pretty quick too!
