Pic Heavy Journal: Sean's 97' Pentroof / Abflug Project

Unfortunately I've been bogged down with work and as such been both idle and anti-social when it comes to getting some pictures up of what feels like my new baby :) . I've only had it a week and got a list as long as my arm of project's I want to do so I figure the best way to make up for it and keep track is by starting a journal. This will also be backed up with a few extra pictures on Flikr for anyone interested:

So to kick things off I'll start with a few pictures from the day she came to me:

Following this the first thing I decided to do after much debate was remove the canards and wing, however looking at the pics now my friend Lee who took all the pictures seems to have made it work :glare:

With that in mind my first picture is of the wing off the car, dunno how the zed carried it, the thing is huge!!

and the car... please bere with me, I know something needs to go back on and will get to that. Please also forgive the pictures, it's me behind the camera now and my back garden isn't as spacious as Meadowhall car park :(

Looking good bud,

a big fat ally rad and no viscous next?

Got out to play with the car yesterday and decided to make a bit of headway on tidying the engine up, nothing major but its made a big change in my eyes :)

- Relocated the alarm siren from next to the power steering reservoir to behind the NS wing.

- Tucked away the wires above the fuse box

- Replaced a few screws for some purple/pink ones brian gave me to match the tops of the coilovers.

- Finally.... and rather embarrassing that it took me so long to notice this, yet alone anyone prior to me... put the middle part of the strut bar the right way around

I think you've both hit the nail on the head there! The viscous is a little too greedy for space in my opinion so well on the hit list and then a bit of chrome, fuse box in particular i'm hoping should have a dramatic effect on the bay. Priorities for the moment though will be getting the spoiler, skirts and exhaust on :)

If you want your car to overheat then get rid of the Viscous :innocent:

correct me if im been naive but with an uprated rad surely it would be an improvement over the viscous as opposed to detrimental?

the standard viscous is hudge and pulls massive amounts of air being very effient, to replace it with an electronic unit that is of large enough size is quite expensive. most offered are simply not large enough to do the job and cause over heating issues. do a quick search, you need a minium air flow rate of blah im sure its on here. or somebody will know it off hand.

Ah right, thanks for the heads up, at the end of the day there's no point sacraficing performance and saftey for a bit of bling so maybe a carbon cowling or something else, eitherway it appears I need to do a little more reading

Well its been a busy weekend and I have to say I'm quite proud :)

I'd also like to say a big thanks to Paul (Kinugawa turbo), getting a full catback system to me within 9 hours of sending payment from the other end of the country.

Your nothing short of a legend mate :)

So, the festivities. I've ditched the idea of going for 99 spec lights, instead I wanted to be a bit different so have tweaked what I already have, along with a few other things to get the back end up to speed. I hope you guys like it, as always, lots of pics:

Following that I'm sure everyone should have a good idea of what I've done, not quite finished but nearly there; a few new badges, shiny new exhaust and a spoiler that I had originally planned to paint purple but in all honest love in black.

How far shes come already

and a few pics of her looking great :)

Now as per my original posts and the mock up i did in photoshop I had planned to add some Veilside type 2 style skirts. While i might have already bought them in anticipation with the spoiler now on I'm really loving the car as it is and I'm not sure if the skirts would actually add anything but I would really appreciate a few peoples opinion on this

Awesome looking car, definitely a good move on the exhaust, I just do NOT understand why people put singles on this car!!!! It makes no sense! I still reckon get rid of the rear lights, those afterburner ones you linked to originally looked quite nice tbh, I like them. Car is looking good bud, keep going! :D

I've been tinkering with a few things in the engine bay too but unfortunately it isn't too bright now so hopefully I'll get a bit of time tomorrow to get some photo's and bring that up to date :)
