doesn't look too bad Garry, so maybe an insurance fix. I hope that she is ok and no one got hurt.

No one hurt just shook up a little she has been driving for just over two years now and this was her first crash but not her fault and other driver admitted full responsibility.I am just worried about chassis damage as it is a convertible and can be hard to fix mate.

Yeah, they have to take into account the unseen damage, it may very well be written off. Hope your daughter was unhurt and recovering from her shock at it happening.

Thanks mate she is fine and of work today to get over the shock of it and sort out the paperwork and phone calls to insurance companies. The car does drive ok no shake in the steering wheel just wind noise through the damaged door.

Good to hear you daughter waz not hurt and no i dont think its that bad seal looks straight and un damaged. Does the door still open ok? I would of thought that to damage the chassis the window would of gone at least? Plus im pretty sure convertablies have stronger chassis as there is no roof so the chassis is where all the strenght comes from. If they do write it off it would be worth you buying it back as it looks an easy fix

Sorry to see that Gary. Glad she's OK. You'll never know what chassis movement there has been unless you get it jigged - which a reputable insurance bodyshop should do but always worth checking. Having bought a Zed back and repaired it after something similar (but worse), not sure it was worth the hassle. If they offer the insured value, I'd take the money and get a new one.

Door opens and closes fine just a little out of line but I can see accident repair centers charging £2000 plus for repair on a £3500 car so maybe a wright of.

I think that would be the best action for Abbie to follow Mike, will wait to see what the assesser says.

Maybe but to me it looks like rear quater can be repaired new door and front wing paint side job done!

Plus two new alloys one tyre and find out why engine managment light came on and fixed.

The other worry I have is if it is fixed it would be hard to sell on again as it would be on the insurance register as damaged/repaired.

Best see what they say but i would say you could get that ka back on the road for less than £1500 maybe less than a £1000. Mind you i live in the vallies in wales so im used to cheaper rates! My friend had his 5 door golf resprayed in cozzie blue with purple peal including all door shuts plus spoiler and some repair work done for £1200 (maybe coming to japfest)

Thanks for the info Dave will have to wait for assessor then consider options.

It's not really the cost to repair the damage, it's the price of the labour charges on top of the damage that may well take it beyond an economical repair.

Thats such a shame Gary, she hasnt had is that long either. Glad she isnt hurt, i know it must have shaken her up abit. I would say with it being a convertible the chassis would be stronger to compensate for no roof, so you might be lucky with a new door and wing, with repair to the rear quarter.

Hope its not too serious, i bet she loved her little Ka.

Gary so sorry to see this mate just when she is starting off to glad she is ok though and hope it does not her confidence etc

i think the insurance company will likely right it off as un-economical repair but i've seen worse put right just depends on cost i guess

keep us updated matey

yes bud i know what you are saying and may be for the best and you will hopefully have a nice sum to spend on a new one!!

fingers crossed mate :thumbup1:

Glad to here that your daughter is ok, would be surprised if they write it off, my wife had a new rear quarter panel, door and sill fitted on a 2K Ford Focus after something very similar happened, which went through her insurance company.

Paul

Glad to hear your daughter is OK Gary - and thankfully the other party accepted liability. It makes the whole claims process easier.....

.....and as for the damage to her car - I'm with Gio mate. If they write it off, make sure you get a decent price from the insurers (ie one that will enable you to replace the car like for like) and buy another.

Even a reputable body shop nowadays can still do a half-arsed repair; making things a lot more hassle than they are worth.

Good luck mate!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

If they are good Gary - remember it's always your choice where you send your car for repair and not the insurer!

They often try to steer you to their recommended reparier; or in the case of third party claims, to the cheapest. But the law says it's your car and therefore your choice.

Stick to your guns mate!
