It's for yer aircon and a sub fan, in the event yer temp starts to overheat this sub fan kicks in and very quickly cools things down.

It also acts a sign of somethings wrong elsewhere, should this fan kick in and all temps appear normal, a fault is detected elsewhere and again keeping things cool.

Thanks mate, ive had to get rid of the AC rad due to it was rotten at the bottom, should this electric fan be re installed, I've already got an electric fan instead of vicous fan?

Re install the fan mate, as said if it comes on you got a problem somewhere else plus it's a great back up should your electric one for some reason malfunction or not cool things enough in busy traffic one day, it's a great failsafe.
