hi guys can wrong plugs (bosh) bring up code 34? also plugs have been in for less than 1000 miles and are black so its over fueling and has bad running when cold! will this all be caused by det sensor? or will wrong plugs cause same faults? im changing to ngk plugs as we speak! also my phone wont let me use the search function so could someone put a link up for det sensor link or a picture where it is!!! thanks

its a tt manual with no mods other than air filter and back box's and is a 1992

engine and box out of the top however if you dont need the box out you can leave it in saves time :) Plenty of answers if you do a search

ok im looking for my det sensor and im pretty sure it is not there???? also i think the EGR valve is missing to? can you see the EGR valve from above/below the car as i cant seem to see it anywhere!!!! also the wire for the det sensor should be in the middle of the engine bay yes?

You should be able to see the EGR under the rear water pipes that go through the bulkhead. Yes the det sensor wire is in the middle. The sensor itself is set back a little on the block, you wont be able to see the sensor, but should see the wire unless its been removed.

ok i found the det sensor and the wire, which has been chopped and bodged by the look of it! i have re done the connections the best i can with the wires and code 34 has cleared i now have code 55 but the car is still the same! wont run when cold and lumpy/really low idle when warm, about 750 -850 rpm also the det sensor plug is missing so there is only 2 wires one goes to wiring loom one goes to earth on battery which is how it was!

The det sensor only has 2 wires, one is a screen which doesnt actually terminate to the det sensor on the block, the other is the signal from the sensor.

Sounds like you might have a vacuum leak somewhere or check the terminals on the temp sensor, although you are getting code 55 you still might have an intermittent reading from the temp sensor which is making it run rough.

Getting it plugged into conzult will give you a clearer idea of whats amiss.

thanks i will use that search page! and do you know what colour wire goes where on the temp sensor as it has also been chopped and bodged in the past which i have now re done also what im guessing is the idle control at the rear of engine just to right as you look at engine 2 pin plug has also been bodged do you know again what colour goes where and also how does the idle control valve come out?
