probably a re-post.

apparently this was a prototype from nissan in 1985. It had the VG30DETT engine in it. Not so keen, im glad it looks how it does now.

(wikipedia stuff)

First Unveiled at the 1985 Frankfurt Autoshow, the MID4 was a concept car designed by Nissan to originally go on sale in the mid-late 1980s. Nissan had aimed the MID4 to compete with European supercars from Porsche and Ferrari. The MID4 boasted a wide array of technology and features that would eventually find its way into other Nissan production cars. The MID4 prototypes would evolve into the MID4 II, though unfortunately it would never be put into production.

I've seen a few concept pics of the 300zx in development and they do look similar. The drop in BHP would have been because of the gentleman's agreement between Japanese car manufacturers to limit cars to 276BHP.

because of the gentlemans agreement not to exceed 280bhp hence why all tt cars of the 90's were "rated" at 280bhp.

the agreement no longer is valid hence the hp of the gtr

and my god what a fecking ugly car!!!

ah, what a shame, wasent the supra TT more than 300 though?

just said that! lol

i was typing it when you posted it you sod!

yeah right, you were copying my brilliance!

iirc the Supra TT came out after the agreement ended. In reality the earlier cars were just quoted as being 276bhp but I think all the manufacturers pushed the rules a bit, hence the zed having 300 but booked at 276.

Note how they look very similar to the old Porsche and Ferrari's. I agree much prefer the look of our cars :)

kinda looks like the starion

Kinda? Kinda doesn't! ha!

i heard customers had gentlemans handshake so some 300s had much more power rolling out of the factory hence you never know what your getting from a jap import.

glad they picked last design

Well no doubt had they picked the other 2, none of use would be on this very forum lol

the front one gets me looks like a american car at the front and a porsche 944 looking at the back :/
