Well I just went to town in the Z with the targas out, was a lovelly drive.

On the way back, I had to go via the motorway because I couldn't get out of town by the normal roads. Coming off the motorway the road is 30mph, which I was obeying, a TVR Tuscan however decided he wasn't and overtook me, about half a mile further down the road, it changes to national speed limit, at which point I downed to second, floored it and after the first corner saw the TVR.

Within a few corners I had caught the Tuscan up, he obviously wasn't as sure of his car in the corners as I was of mine, he was still accelerating on the straights however. A corner or two more and I'm right behind the Tuscan, coming out of a left hand bend, I can see about a mile in front of us and there's nothing coming, at around 40, the gears went down to second again and the loud pedal got squished. The rest is obvious, including the look on the TVR owners face :D

God I love Z's.

That's quite freaky as me and the old man were just discussing the differences of driving a Cerbera he had and the Zed this morning. According to his experience of both, the Zed would "Rip it's heed aff" in his words lol

First time I really hit boost was when I had a Land Rover V8 Turbo Sport up my 'arris. I was getting really fed up with him tailgating me and showing off to the bird in the pass seat. Anyway, there was a gap to overtake so I put my foot to the floor, hit kickdown the autobox dropped a gear the boost shot over to +14 (boost jets!) and my old G reg auto JDM took off like it was catapulted from the deck of a Nimitz Class carrier! I looked in my rear view about 2 seconds later and the land rover was about 500 yards behind me. That showed him. Mind you, my heart was pumping fast and I was shaking just at the shear power the car had unleashed.

You gotta love the zed.

I had a blast on the anglesea track a few years back when i had my fiat coupe.

came up against a tuscan and a cerbera. wasted them both lol!!!! the best was when we were on the straight doning 145 and i pulled out to overtake the cerbera and he was well fooked off lol!!!!

My entire body was shaking for the mile after I overtook, adrenaline from the shear power the Z has got now it has the Mines ECU in it and the fact that I just upset a guy who paid about 40 times what I did for his car!

The zed dosnt excite me much to be totally honest lol!!!!

So what does?

:lol::lol::lol:

dont know. just got use to the power i surpose. I sit there at full throttle thinking. and??? lol!!

I think thats why I never get bored of it, I like country lanes, corners, which is where the Z is best. I've never been a fan of straight line speed, could never understand all the GTR owners who spent tonnes on making their car fast in a straight line for drag races with points of a second in it.

I just make the car a bit faster, a bit louder, a bit lower, a bit sleeker and then take it to the real track, the one with bends in it! Drag racing is just boring most of the time.

TVR Tuscan hits 60 in 3.8 seconds. Something tells me he may have been driving like a wee pixie.

Unless you was racing the old one.

He must have had the 6 cylinder version. A buddy of mine has a V8 Cerb and it would completely wipe a Zed out. 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. A full 2 seconds quicker than a stock ZedTT

I do the same! LOL Until i nearly hit stuff in the back...

You do get used to it though!

I would have thought a tuscan, even the 6 cylinder model would leave a standard zed? Very light cars, great power to weight ratio!

Brother had a tuscan red rose which is like a limited edition, it was quick but wandered all over the place even after new tyres tracking etc he did't feel safe driving it .I had a chimeara and loved it but very dissapointed with performance love TVR's but performance figures dont seem to match .

It's all about how big your balls are really, years ago I used to have a 1.2 Mk1 punto, which for what it was (which wasn't much) it was nippy, but I knew it like the back of my hand, well looked after and always had good rubber on it, lost countles golf GTi's etc. just because I could go round corners and they didn't have the skills...

Those V8 Cerberas are dead fast - IIRC they can do 0-100mph in around 10 seconds!! That would waste almost anything you're likely to meet on the road.

But, most of them probably break down before they hit 60......:innocent:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

The one i raced in the coop was the v8 lol!!!! that coop was a hell of a machine lol!!!!

Or attempt to kill the driver in a massive tail spin..

Nope it was the V8 full fat version but the Zed isn't standard so that may be the reasoning behind it ;)

Went on a pistonheads meet and convoy to Sywell Aerodrome ,all types of cars in attendance, got to Sywell and found out a cerbera had left the road and was in a field car was a write off and owner had some head injuries.I met the guy at a Silverstone meet he was fine now and had bought a massive american pickup. They are fast and you have to be on guard or they will catch you out.

This. Although I dunno what the Spec of the OP's car is? My Zed is running 14psi of boost, and I'm pretty confident that I wouldn't stand a chance against a TVR, Cerbera or Tuscan. Quicker than my mate's E39 M5 though :D

Well, to be honest whats on paper doesnt necessarily = real world driving conditions, just look at the mclaren f1 vs veyron video from topgear, on paper the veyron should of beat the mclaren off the line at 2.6 seconds to 60, vs the mclarens 3.1 seconds. yet the video clearly shows that the mclaren left it off the line.

I beat a Audi R8, on the way to meet steams. coming up to the a14 / a14 round about, the first set of lights, he steamed off towards the m11, i pootered around the corner thinking "no way in hell am i even standing a chance against that", as i came around, he was sat at the next set of lights that had caught him on red. as i came up, they went green, so i had a good 30mph rolling start on him.

so seeing the road was clear, i nailed it. boost shot to 16psi, changed gear, boosted again. i could see him catching, got into 5th and boosted again. i wouldn't say i left him, but by this point he was struggling to keep up. anyway got to the A14 / M11 around about and slowed down for the red lights. he came up beside me flashing his lights and smiling, i suppose that was his real challange in it and was loving it from the look on his face.

Have to admit i was surprised by the shear power a slightly modified zed has over something that new.

i was a nervous wreck all the way to steams house lol

I dare say though, had it been a standing start he would of left me.

I used to work at a TVR dealer and I've driven many but even the stock Tuscan with it's 360bhp 4.0 straight 6 would beat my zed running 14psi. I remember getting a Tuscan S upto 185mph at brunters and I didn't even enter the straight that quickly!

I've never driven a TVR, but I used to eat them constantly in the GTR, these reported times of 3.8 are of course ideal circumstances, with the stig behind the wheel and using slick tyres, on a track etc. etc. etc. The GTR used to eat just about anything it saw, it was faster than the Z is, but it used to anhialate things, the Z just nibbles.

All aside from any of that, as I said, he wasn't driving it through the corners properly, 99% of a cars speed, handling etc. is all down to the driver and the conditions. I'm sure if he were on a drag strip (Which as I've said before is boring) he'd have weed all over me, but on a road, with corners, I completely kicked his ass, sorry.
