Pre-cat advice

I'm not 100% sure if I have pre-cats or not, I have an 89' Jap LWB TT. When looking at the front of the exhaust just before the cats there are pipes leading up into the eninge bay.. are these pre-cats?

Reason being I want to Decat the car so what are my options?

Also what exhaust systems are there out there?

Ahh so can anyone shed light on these pipes leading from my exhaust system up into the engine bay?

AIV Recirculating system, feeds clean/cool air to the cats for emission purposes. You Block them up when you fit decats.

Thanks a lot for that Yowser, I had no idea as I've never saw that kind of set up before lol.

The aiv valves feed hot air to warm the cats up ,cold ones are not efficient, this is the reason in an mot cat test its vital the car is up to temperature.
