Good Morning All

Having owned a few classics in my time i've now decided it's time to acquire a 300ZX. It's bonus time at work as have got a couple of grand (which could be stretched a little) burning a hole in my bank account and need to find a nice TT, not fussed whether SWB or LWB and would prefer a manual one

Have had a read through the buyers guides and am still not put off although I think that's more to do with my thinking being done by my 'petrolhead' rather than my sensible head.

Any hints, tips, advice, cars that may be coming up for sale? Is it best to buy an unmolested original one or one that's had a few sensible mods already completed?

Any advice greatly appreciated

Dave

Hi and welcome.... not sure of people will agree with me but it's mostly about luck....

you could buy anyone you mentioned and have a problem or just as likely find a gem!!!

the key is make sure you check the car out well..... vin or chassis numbers to verify age and be like a hawk on the UK models for rust as it does tend to hide in places....

good luck....

hi Dave and welcome to the forum!

If you fancy having a chat with someone whos not also trying to sell you a car, im in Leamington Spa, you're welcome to come over for a chat and a drive sometime if you fancy.

hello mate, good choice to get a zed, there are a few for sale on here at the moment so worth a look through the cars for sale section, check the usual, particularly rust , especialy if it's a uk car as they can be rot boxes. If your going TT, check for excessive smoke on idle and particularly when putting your foot down, new tubs are expensive and a tricky job. Make sure that if/when you go for a test drive that she boosts all the way (nearly to max) as they can be in safety mode (boosts about 3 quarters of the way) and this indicates something is wrong, could be something simple, or not!

A decent unmolested example will often fetch more than a modded car, but most tend to add their own touch anyway. SWB are much rarer than the estate (which i have) but the extra space can be usefull.

I would say that it is worth waiting for a good example as there are a nough dogs out there, and whatever your budget is.... add an extra £500 as there will inevitibly be something that needs doing to her.

Good luck and keep us posted :thumbup1:

welcome mate, if your unsure of what to look for on a good or bad zed, just post up on here any concerns you may have, if you see one that stands out from others then dont worry about asking loads of q's to either on here or the owner.

If you need any help with viewing one, try and contact folks on here for assistance, as alot will help out and may even view it with you.
