General consenus feeling really. Is it ok to ram 18 billion watts worth of eletrical hardware into your zed? or does the car lend itself to a more subtle approach that doesnt require so much stuff. IS it rice to ice in your opinion :D

my opinion is the zed is focused enough to not need a stero at all. my previous car didnt the pur of the engine and lack of stero made it thjat more special to drive.

I can see a point in decent sounds, but I see no point in filling the trunk wi shite just sos you can claim to pop ear drums. Even more pointless for thoses that have t-tops! Where ya gonna put em?

I have my subs set to vocal so its not all boom lol!!

i just like to have a bit of a one off i know its not everyones taste but it gets people talking one way or another lol

Looking forward to an update on your latest install. Each to their own mate. Wouldn't have it in mine but doesn't mean it can't be appreciated. :cool3:

Carmad. Whas that one of the ones that ace8 (i think) was doing for a few members before my time. Looks good bud.

car will be away tomorrow to get a check over, mot and back on the road so wont have much till i get it back at the end of the month. but working on a hidden 17" or 19" monitor that will only raise when the boot lid is opened and a few other little ideas

have you got any details of that Richard? The speakers I've just fitted are good but just feel they need some more ooomph and was thinking maybe an amp would be the way to go. Is it the small round silver clarion amp you refer to?

this may or may not do what you want......

the stock nissan external amps are fed with speaker level signals not line level as aftermarket amps would be. ie the amp in your headunit runs into the amp in the boot. the origonal nissan headunit had a fairly low power amp in it and the system was obviously optimised for this.

fitting a modern headunit with built in amplifier of many times the power of the origonal can easily overdrive the amp in the rear so it sounds distorted, or the rear can end up many times louder than the front

my first upgrade used the rear amp but i felt it changed the sound so i bypassed it later (ie run speaker cable straight to the rear speakers)

to wire it up you need to feed a switched 12v to one of the wires in the 6 way connector for the rear speakers.

the above is only relevant to UK spec cars

if you have the bose speakers and bose amps then these are less compatable as bose run speakers of lower impedance than standard and amps to match. hence a new headunit into a bose speaker could easily overdrive it and a bose amp into a new speaker will strugle to some extent to drive it

That looks dead good Dave - a functional stsyem but you still have your boot space!

I know - boot space...... But I need room for luggage as I like to take my ZX on hols and Julia always packs too much!!

Richard:chef:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Cheers Richard. I'm hoping i'll need my boot space for a trip to LeMans in the not too distant future. And that's a bloody long way without good tunes lol. So best of both worlds imo.
