Well if you get the join wrong it will leak and go flat all the time, so id say best leave it to someone with

1. the correct tools to complete the job (IE new seal)

2. you have someone to blame when it all goes wrong lol

2 peice wheels won't require a new seal. Only the centre bit will come out, so just get a torque wrench and do it yourself.

Well my two piece have a seal through the center, the spokes are connected to the rear of the wheel, and the front part with the front wall lip, comes away separately, so i suppose it depends on how they split.

Technically, they'll be 3-piece if they're proper 3 peice wheels. The centre dish will be welded to the rear portion of the rim.

well, someone told me they were 3 piece, but the join looks more like 2 piece. anyway they are Impul racing RS's 17 inch, 5x100 (yes that's correct, they have the 114.3 adapter on them)

Erm , not sure if 2 or 3 piece.

They are Enkei Racing S, I have seen a pic of the same wheel (in a different size) split and the spokes were seperate the rim.

I have read that they often weld the rims on 3 piece anyhow, and TBH thats not an issue as all I was thinking of doing was splitting so the rims could be polished and the spokes repainted.

Thats exactly what i want to do, i want my spokes white with a polished rim

But everywhere around here doesnt want to touch 3 piece splits

yours are 2 piece very few 3 piece rims about and most refurb companies wont touch 3 piece ones due to the seals

my mate did a set of bbs split rims in his kitchen they where fine. just required alot of patenice. and he used a liquid style gasket like a silicone bead.

Thats what was done on mine a silicone sealing and left to dry for 24hours before they were touched again

i think the vw boys do it quite often. ian... where did you get the adaptors to change 110 to 114?

you mean from 5 x 100 to 5 x 114.3?

Dunno was on the car as the wheels came with it matey, they also act as spacers which is handy as the wheels fill the arches nicely and give it a nice rear stance. still need about 10mm on the fronts though.

yeh been looking for new wheels, and there are lots of german 110x5 fitment style wheels out there. for better money as there in abundance. :D

cheers ian

np, there are others out there that are cheaper, but i wouldnt trust them on our cars to be honest.

I think the cost of 2 pairs of those outweighs the cost of buying the right wheels in the first place :p

Are they the inverted torque screws? (if that made any sense whats so ever lol

Its a female torx socket you need, i think that's the name. for bonding them back together, id use tiger seal, its a black polyethylene compound

Yeah kinda look like that, no idea if the splines are std torx sizes/spaces or specific to the make ?

The rim is bonded as well as bolted ? or do you mean the bolts, which i would have thought would have some sort of threadlock on ...
