not looked at it in the f;esh but yeh on paper looks nice, go veiw it. or maybr phone or mail jeff asking for some background

yeah i think i will give jeff a email. also fact taht most of the work is done is the main reason i wanna go for it. Have to say it looks awesome :D

im not a fan of autos and would of spent some money on getting the conversion done first rather than the rest of it therefore compared to the rest of the market i think its overpriced and can get better example for that money

yeah i am going to get the price down, i really dont think the cars worth that much either. Just need to get hold of jeffs email. anyone?

This has been discussed before, and we all said we loved it! Bar it being an auto.

o i c well thats great, btw how much would you guys say the cars worth?

beautiful car , seems like it has been taken care of however not sure how he says 55k miles and then the hpi another thing ..

i doubt he will sell that car for 3k imo , 4k if your lucky i reckon , one of the nicest cars for sale right now and i wouldnt says its overpriced tbh.

Could the HPi be holding their records in Km maybe, as it's an import? It doesn't convert exactly the same but it's a lot nearer.

Just a thought.

I think its well worth the money reguardless of it being an auto. looks like a well looked after pamperd car and well looked after.

If it was a manual it would be maybe worth about £500 more if that.

yeah thats what i initially thought but need to check with the seller!

completely agree with car mad ^

I'm inclined to agree as well.

As for the mileage issue - sure it sounds suspicious but why worry about mileage on a 20 year old car? Unless it's backed up with a full documented history, all old MOTs and bills for work, then I'd certainly not believe anything the owner or odometer said anyway!

So buy a 300zx based on its condition. Most ZXs have covered big mileages since 1990 and any major components that have failed as a result will most likely have been replaced or upgraded. Look for evidence of such maintenance - remember a 120k mile car that has had expensive components replaced or rebuilt COULD be a better bet than a 75k mile car that is still original.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Wtell had a word with the seller he said he wasnt sure about the miles at all and isint aware about any engine swaps. He took his mechanic friend with him when he bought it and he gave it the all clear. Also further checks showed it was a cat d in 2001. So not sure what to trust, do HPI's turn out to be wrong? I do love how the car looks and i can see its been cared for, so might make a long trip soon and see it for myself.

TBH I personally wouldn't touch it at that price if it has been written off, even if it was only cosmetic.

Keep the following in mind:

(cut and pasted from Autocheck):

Should I Buy A Written-Off Vehicle?

Before you buy a written-off vehicle you should consider the following:

* Tell your insurance company about it - if you don't they may refuse a claim. It is unlikely to affect the premium you pay, but it may reduce the amount paid out in the event of a claim.

* Have a mechanical inspection carried out to ensure it has been repaired to a high standard - an MOT certificate is not sufficient.

* The market value will have been reduced considerably by the write-off - don't pay full price for it.

* You may have some difficulty selling the vehicle in the future. Dealers often won't accept them in part exchange and the market for it will be limited. A potential buyer will also have the same concerns in the future as you do now.

You have enough of a budget to find a nice example yet :)

Cat D write off can be all sorts of cosmetic things however will cause problems along the way as Tel said above. Mileage i wouldnt be bothered about either its just a haggling point. Still think it is overpriced compared to the rest of the market at the moment and i understand he wont take 3k for it but that is my valuation of it. For that money there is better examples about. Hell for that money you can buy one of my spare shorties may have 2 at the end of today :)
