Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone on here has had any experience with these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300517572375&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

They look ok from the pics but before making any choices i'd like to have the opinion of someone that has bought them if possible.

I'd be looking for them in white and black.

Also, how much do you reakon an upholsterer would charge to fit them?

Its been discussed before

And I will re state my 2P worth.

i wouldnt have plactic seats in my Zed. Cheap n nasty looking IMO.

He goes to great lengths to say that his leatherette aint vinyl and that leather is tooo expensive to use(*****cks)

So WTF is it then... Its plastic/synthetic of some sort. Its not leather.

all of course IMHO

Someone had more success using the US ebay, they got leather seat covers for £80 delivered.

Im sure Dave has these in his blue zed and they do look good quality

But i got leather ones from the US for around the same price :)

Thanks for the input guys. I already have leatherette material in White to do my headrests and sentre glove box and i quite like the look of it. was just thinking of the fitment really. Of course if you can get them for £80 from the US then that would be a much better deal. :)

leatherette for the interior panels is fine, its when you go for the seats it becomes a problem, due to the fact leather has a far better ware tolerance than the thin leatherette.

yes I have these in mine and Im very happy with them. I'm fairly sure it was the same seller as well. The kits came ready built in 6 pieces (inc. rear seats and plus head rests) so you just remove the original leather/tweed and pull these over and tie them to the frame - although that makes it sound too simple it still takes hours to do! :(

The material (of mine at least) is supposedly called Vytex and feels like the stuff you trim your console/doors with but softer and thicker. It has a matte leather look to it. It's entirely down to opinion whether you like it or not but as I said I'm very happy with mine. Take a look at some of the pics I took while fitting them. There are a couple of snaps in my rides section too.

how do you 'tie them to the frame' evolution Z, id be up for doing this DIY with the right info.

hi mate - once the old covers are off as you can imagine all youre left with is the metal frame covered (hopefully) in the spongy stuff. I poked holes through at various points in the new cover with a screwdriver and used plastic ties (about 200 for the whole job!) to attach it to the frame. There are also points in the covers where you slide thin metal rods down and tie around those - I managed to salvage most from the old seats, and just cut up a couple of wire coat hangers for anything I was missing. I've attached a couple of pics from a guide that came from their web site to give you an idea. The job is technically simple, just wire ties, screw drivers, a stanley knife, some pliers, and a whole lot of patience and spare skin and blood for your fingers!

They look really smart but does the interior smell of plastic and do you get a sweaty arse LOL :asshole:

why do people want leather? in the winter its too cold to sit on and in the summer its too hot to sit on. apart from looking nice i cant see why you would want it? lol. just my opinion though:)

That's a bit of a misconception in my opinion mate!

Leather - good leather - is so much nicer than cloth and doesn't suffer from the "cold in winter/hot in summer" problem really. It adds a classy feel to the interior of any car; adding to the over-all driving experience. If you wear a coat in the winter then you won't notice the first 2 minutes in the morning when you get in the car; likewise in summer, tinted glass and a sun-screen can help block most of the sun's rays (especially if you park in the shade).....

But if you're really worried about seasonal extremes, heated seats solve the winter issue and a/c solves the summer one. Job done!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
