Buying guide. Help!! Please!!

Hi,

I am going hunting for a 300zx this weekend and was wondering what to look for to avoid buying a shagger. Is there any problems that are common with this car that can be checked before buying. I've also read that engine rebuild for these beasties are expensive but how common is it that they need it.

Cheers for any help.

Go for a UK spec one, as it will be a lot cheaper to insure, make sure its had its cambelt changed recently. Check the state of the leathers, as this shows if the mileage is genuine, if the side squabs are knackered walk away. When test driving it, if it does'nt give u the sensation of being pushed back into your seat when the boost hits, then it probably is running in safety boost, again walk away. Check out the the buying guide on this forum its on the tech stuff link off the Z logo.

Cheers Boy the help is much apreciated. Can anyone give me an example of parts prices. Also how hard is it work on these cars. I read somwhere that you need the engine out to fix/change the tubbies.

Also whats a side squab.

Thanks

turbos can be replaced with the engine in the car, but the mechanic doing the job needs to be very experienced and needs to have very small and flexible hands. wink.gif

Usually it takes less time to remove the engine and replace the turbos then to do it with the engine still in the car.

Its the sides of the leather seat, normally gets worn down by the driver getting in and out of the car, they should be in good nick up until 100K miles

Also whats a side squab.

Thanks[/b]
