I need to hire a skip to dump a load of crap from my garage clear out. Does anybody know the going rate of hire and disposal?

Cheers

Differs from city/town, best getting a few quotes from your yellow pages. IIRC if its placed on a public road, it costs more, something to do with road tax. On a drive then its not too bad, the price includes pick up and disposal. I had a midiskip a few years back on my drive, cost about £52, you normally get it for a week, but depending on companies you may get longer if required, till full.

Cheers for that, I'm just after a smallish one. It will be on my drive and guarded 24hrs to stop any neighbours putting their junk in it. lol

Midis are about £80 now and 8 yard (big) builders skip is about £120 around Southport, we are currently paying £100 in Liverpool for a big 8 yarder. prices have shot up this year!!!

£120 for 8 yarder off road...on road with permit £160 Wirral/chester. once the greedy boards go on its not a bad price:whistling:

i'm coincidently looking for a skip too

getting quoted £150 for a mini 4yrd skip and £193 for a 6yrd midi - both off the road , £another £102 to have it on the road

at that price i'm tempted to use my vert

Just be careful about what you're putting in it - they can (should!!) refuse oils, solvents and plenty of other stuff you'll likely be clearing out of your garage... obviously depends on the company whether they're bothered tho!

If you can borrow a van, it may be more cost effective to take it to a trade waste place - drive on to weigh bridge, unload, back on to weighbridge and pay tonnage on the waste - done it a few times myself, similar restrictions may apply tho!
