I haven't used it yet.lol iirc you remove the coilpacks and plugs and connect up the tester and turn the car over. You need to do each cylinder obviously.

so I cant test my spare engine sat in the garage? :(

Yeah, get a wrench on the crank and turn it over. You'll probably need to get a man to help you though.....:sailor:

PMSL!-you need to spin it over quicker than a wrench mate! :hammer:

Hook a battery up to the starter and do it that way.

Nah mate i'm well ard me! lol

Doubt Baz would have the gearbox attached to the engine he wants to test though, so is there another way of doing it?

excuse my thickness.. will I need to bolt it up to a gearbox? you aren't messing are ya Daz? you can really do that?! :confused1:

as it is a screw in type of compression tester turning over by big rachet should give a reading as you are still creating the compression just whether it will give a true reading

Doh too late lol.... yeah I've got a manual box and an auto box in the garage I can throw on.

No not messin' mate! stick a 'box on and a starter and take out all the plugs. If the engine as sat a while squirt some oil down the bores first.:ninja:

important if inside a garage.. release the fuel pressure (use fuel pump relay if no consult available) then turn over until no firing occurs. remove plug/fit tester. measure compression with throttle wide open/ pedal depressed on a cold soaked engine. repeat first cyl again to check. if result is not the same, scratch readings and repeat all six.

That is the Nissan intended method. Hope that helps!

He also has my spot weld dent puller at the moment. Im guessing that Vodkashots is building a second zed out of borrowed bits by the sound of it :sailor:

I believe my dent puller should be repatriated with me shortly  a good friend of mine needs it Sunday.
