I have a Jap import zed and was wondering for insurance purposes will that be a Fairlady Z or a 300ZX? They have both listed on the comparions sites :/

All Jap cars are officially 'Fairlady Z'. You will have to tell the insurance company the right one, but then again, they should know when they check your reg - providing it doesn't come up as an Rover 414i or something daft!

Worst luck mate, welcome to the pain of imported cars.

Well I've been running an Import Celica for about a year now so I've been getting used to the insurance lol. When I put in my registration they think it is a 2004 300ZX!

So I decided just to put in the car make/model etc. and declare it a Jap import but got hit with those 2 options so wasn't sure which one to choose :p

lucky sods!!! im 23 and no one will touch me on a 300zx!!! not even on dads 300zx insurance policy :( really annoying :@

Must be something to do with where you live maybe N300TT? At the moment I'm 1600 a year but after some searching (my renewal is due end of this month) managed to get in the region of 1k with my wheels and that declared!

guess so....living in SW London doesn't really help :( im paying 1300 on a 1.6 vti civic lol

That's harsh! I meant to say by putting both my parents on my policy as named drivers it drops significantly, so maybe worth a try Rob?

i feel quite lucky im 592 for the year im only 25..then again iv got an N/A

  • 1 month later...

It would be fairlady when i put in 300zx the insurance was a lot cheaper. when i used a compair webb site. But when you talk to the insurance company to take up the price. i was told sorry you should put down fairlady as its a import. Then the price go's up or they whant insure you.

im £293 a year fullycomp, with lynbrook, but limited to 8000 miles a year and cant drive it too or from work.

But my first import, i put the reg in and it came up as a Nissan primera

I never even thought of buying a 300zx before I was 25, just assumed the insurance would be horrendous. Got it on a classic policy now, £278 for the year!
