And who exactly wants this?

Do I hear road safety groups crying out for even more draconian measures? Nope. Do I hear green parties saying it will reduce emissions? Nope. Its the fooking useless sods who we vote into power, so they can piss people off with useless fecking schemes, that nobody wants. Bunch of toss pots blowing millions of pounds into a system they hope will become the next golden goose for the government deficit. As if bloody motorists aren't persecuted enough. They still won't catch me hitting a ton and a half down a backroad though. :tt2:

If it does come to this, I for one will arm myself with a Stihl Saw and hack the fookin things down. Once it costs em more to put em up than they make in revenue, they'll soon stop bothering. If only, as a nation, we weren't so spineless and stood up for ourselves. I'm off to Egypt :2guns:

Too right - a couple round here have been burnt/ blown up recently... long may it continue!!

They are just getting ridiculas now, pure money making. I find if i dont put the cruise control on i spend more time looking at my speedo than the road. Much safer....

i do think a nation of speed cameras is too far, but im not too fussed... motorways are dull anyways, i just whack the cruise control on.

If, however, they put average speed cameras on my local b road, then i'll be annoyed!

its annoying as its only money they want - they dont give a damn about saftey - this country is a disgrace and the government are a bunch of robbing ba$tard$ !!

hmm.... this is reality here in Norway unfortunately. Not average speed camera across the entire network of roads but I'm pretty sure that's what the government wants eventually.

And they always bring up the road safety thing... Really? Then why are 90% of the cameras placed in the most dumbfound places, and often well hidden ?? 2nd of all, they are GREY, blending perfectly in with the concrete sidewalls of many roads... You can't see them! It has NOTHING to do with safety, it's all just a matter of making a profit. Because we're easy targets, because we need to drive they see an easy income. High road taxes, high petrol prizes, the highest taxes on cars anywhere and all the while the infrastructure rots!

But yet as been said we are spineless creatures that just accept it... But I guess every thing has it's breaking point, just look at the arab countries...

We're one of the richest countries in the world yet our government can't afford anything, I guess that's what greed does to you.

Yes, let's spend more millions on these pointless cameras', it doesn't matter that we have a social services that are letting down children being abused battered and even killed, or a social services spending millions of pounds accussing people of something they have not done, these things don't matter, as long as we are taking more money from the motorist!!! This country makes me sick, and the idiots that are supposed to be running it (yeah into the ground) are all pathetic.

Lets spend even more money on pointless supposed works of art!!! The angel of the north, lamb banannas, penguins, dream, bronze statues of people in the sea and the likes, lets just get the motorist to pay for these fooking ridiculous pointless things.

Yep I'm off to Egypt as well..........

Here's a fascinating statistic.

Something like 30% of fatal road traffic accidents involve a vehicle travelling at excess speed. Which means 70% of fatal accidents have nowt to do with speed... AND if I'm going to get really pedantic - statistically you are more likely to die in an accident where excess speed is not a factor. So I'm going to petition the government to increase speed limits and, therefor, reduce fatalities on British roads.

I'm off to chuck a fire extinguisher off the Houses of Parliment, anyone fancy coming too? :taz:

I will fit a flip plate to my bike, i mean this too. It pisses me off, big brother. Lets rebel for once because we only sign a petition in this country and hope for the best. For what i have seen lately its the people that have the power.

You off to Zedworld on sat mate?

can i point you toward http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=145614 again lol. not one of the arguments for speed cameras are valid except for revenue generation! but soon they will make driving a game for only the very wealthy and where will their revenue be then????

around a mates of mine in scotland, the teenage joyriders always write off the cars into the cameras at the end of the evening lol

Very James Bond!

You come up with a design and I'll place an order now!

Only problem is, if its too obvious some Doo-gooder will report you to the filth, ahem, I mean the poo-lice, dam it, police.

Total money maker..It was on the news the other morning that more than 50% that are up on our roads, aren't even working so what's the point?

There are ones that fold in half at a press of a button. Seen a few bikes with them.

Hiding your plates doesn't have to be that hard. Just requires a trip to the hardware store or a junkyard...

Plate mounted on a hinge, when you drive fast enough the wind resistance will do the rest and push the plate up and out of view. This is front mounted so won't work in the U.K but will work in countries where cars are photographed from the front.

To further evolve the hingemounted plate, use a solenoid, a wiper motor or a small electric solenoid to pull or push the plate out of view.

Headlight motors from say an S13 could also be used in these kind of tricks...
