Help: Diff bushes - Energy Suspension kit

Just returned from the garage who are fitting an Energy Suspension bush kit for me.

They have 2 large bushes left with a code 4178 on them. They have not changed the Differential bushes yet, and the kit is meant to have a Rear differential carrier bushing set included. I assume the bushes are the ones for the back of the diff to attach to rear of the rear sub-frame? The bushes are about the same diameter, but the new ones (the 2 left over) are deeper.

I wondered if my 'later' model may have had a different solution, but there was a 1989 import there as well which had the same depth.

Can anybody put me right?

Thanks, Geoff

Im fitting a kit as well and im not sure about those ones. let me know if you find out

Cheers

Oh dear having fitted a whole set back and front last year to a customer`s car it sounds like the two upper subframe pair I hope it`s not because if it is they have not realised that the subframe, diff, diff cooler and hicas rack have to come off to get these in from above,,,, eek!

Will mean starting again

The 2 that are left have a large inner/centre hole (so am more like large rings) and are the ones right in the centre, but one north and the other south, on one of the (2) supplied packs. Don't know if that will help anybody remember?

Jeff, I think the subframe ones are quite solid with small inner/centre holes? At the moment nothing is on the rear of the car other than the subframe refitted and the diff being offered up (so no problem at the moment with Hicas, etc....). If we can work out what they are before Monday....

Am I right in saying that the front mounts for the diff are bolted onto the cross member without kit replacement bushes - I think this is a 'solid' mount? I just want to check I am looking at the right end of the diff for the Rear differential carrier bushing set (doh!).

Thanks, Geoff

Geoff my namesake, one thought did you get the kit from Luke at the Zed centre or from the states as the one I fitted had bushes in that the instructions stated remove body from chassis and fit between Huh?

not a zed bush thats for sure I thing had four left over at end.

Hi Jeff, I believe the kit came from the Z-Centre but supplied by Johnny. It is meant to have the Rear differential carrier bushing set included, but did not have very much in the way of instructions - certainly did not cover the differential. There are a number of small bushes left, but these look to be the ones for the sway bars and shocks - I also have Stillen sway bars and KYB shocks being fitted and using the bushes included with these parts.

Did the Diff bushes come on a separate card (a 3rd card), does anybody know? I am wondering if the Diff bushes are missing from the kit?

Thanks for your help, Geoff

I spoke to Luke yesterday. He did not have a kit to refer to and has not fitted the kit there. The garage that they use did comment previously that they had to modify these bushes for the diff. Fit metal rings and possibly trim them as well alot of trouble.

I have told my garage to stay with the Nissan originals - shame. Geoff
