Can a Tiptronic system be installed

Is there anyone in the UK that can convert an auto 300z in to a tiptronic or sequential gearbox system similar to the porche and if so how much would it cost. I am just getting mine back on the road and would like to do some major modifications

Funnily enough they can and do and we have an order pending for the system described below prices start around a grand.

Manual Shiftronic is a plug-and-play module that mounts in the cockpit and links directly with your transmission computer harness to provide manual control of up and downshifts, shift pressure and converter lockup.

Once plugged in, you have the option to go to any gear you please, up-shifting and down-shifting when you want. The Shifttronic Manual-Automatic is great for drag racers, rally drivers and anyone who wants positive trans control. The controller also offers you the option of changing how hard the trans shifts, and allows the driver to lock the torque converter on deceleration for real engine braking-like a manual shift transmission.

Where can I get one? I want I want!

Want Want Want! Had a Tip in my FTO & it was the dogs nuts

Jeff are you talking about the Level 10 system?

If so how do you find there service and turnaround times?

A while back people on http://www.supraforums.com had some problems.

Jeff, I think those level10-tiptronic systems are supposed to work only for cars with the upgraded level10-transmission installed.

I'm not sure though....but I looked into this over a year ago and at the time I was told it had something to do with the need for a higher linepressure that the stock box can't deliver..

Hmm yes Eric the info form the is a bit lacking in detail hence the wait, the uprated box that our very own Andy P is soon to be seling is looking all that much more interesting!!

Hi Leon, glad you found your way here smile.gif

Had a flick thru the search for you as I now remember some talk on Level 10. Not sure if he still is on the forum, but NitroPow I believe had this fitted.

Try a search on the general forum for level 10 and here is their website.

Hope that helps

I see that there is a lot of interest in this, so I think I have to share some info with you...

The level 10 system is just a box with 4 "radio buttons" and a switch for switching on the torque converter lockup.

The transmission oil pressure is permanently high since the control solenoid is not connected at all.

Handling of the system is a bit cumbersome, since it's hard to find the right button quickly.

The radio buttons are made in the way that when you push on, the other pops out.

They sell it for about 550$ and it's not worth it in my opinion.

And another thing, you can not just simply switch the system off. You have to reconnect the original harness under the bonnet.

Now to the NEWS.

Since I own an electronic development company, We've decided to make a much better product.

You can have the shift buttons on the steering wheel!

One up-shift and one down-shift.

Since the system is computer controlled there are a lot of useful functions built in.

For example, for safety reasons, you can set a down shift RPM limit.

You can control the TC lockup as you please, automatically.

There is also a half-auto function with automatic upshift at preset RPM.

etc.etc.

You can also switch off this system at any moment, to use the original auto-mode.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Maciej

YES YES YES !

Can I put my name down to be a tester for this? smile.gif smile.gif

Sounds amazing, you need to have the F1 style paddles on the back - the buttons will be a bit fiddly.

Do you have any prices for the system? Gonna have to decide which family members to sell wink.gif NEED one now biggrin.gif

Maciej,

That sounds excellent, sounds like you have all the angles covered too !

Jay - it'll be a self install thing methinks (unless Maciej is gonna start doing install trips all over Europe smile.gif).. You could do the paddles with microswitches and a hinged lever arrangement on the back of the wheel..

Oddly enough, I was contemplating how it could be done when I had the front off my wheel.. smile.gif

Paddles are mechanically hard to fit there.

Buttons are not that bad actually, if placed right.

They have to be the right kind of buttons as well, of course.

The price is not set yet but it will be competitive, i.e. around what you have to pay for the Level 10 box.

I expect the first systems to be delivered in April.

Maciej

put me down for one, please mail me when you,re finished development

Thanks,

Brian

Sure, no problem Brian I'll do that.

This was not ment to come out until we're finished but since this thread

poped up, I felt that I had to reveal this info.

I will make an announcement on the General Forum when the release time comes.
