I went for the manual conversion quite a while ago now but completely forgot to update my V5.

Just reading up on the dvla portal and it doesn't specify that I need to update it for this change. Should I still update?

Have others done this? did you have any problems??

I didn't change mine, in fact I don't recollect the V5 stating that mine was auto to begin with.

Mine says under the heading 'Model/Type - 300 ZX TURBO AUTO'.

Just being cautious as not sure what effect it will have on insurance, etc. Obviously insurance is on a manual (changed when I renewed) but if I were to make a claim, insurance companies being as they are, they may try to use this to void the policy??

Basically looking to switch insurers to a specialist with an agreed value but want to make sure all other aspects are sorted in time too.

my documents dont state wether its an auto or a manual.although it is a manual now.

Mines just listed as "Nissan Sports" and thats it, and this is the reason we cant get any population numbers for the Z from DVLA.

If your worried then may as well have it changed

I guess....cheers for the input guys...

Uk spec cars will specify all the details on the V5 as they would have been available from the first registration.

Hence why your car is listed as a "300ZX TURBO AUTO"

Whilst you've told your insurer that it is now a manual, I guess you should actually have declared it as a modification from its original form.......

....but for peace of mind, I'd inform the DVLA in writing anyway. That way you have done all you can and, in the event of a claim, no-one can say that you've misled or misinformed anyone. Insurers don't need another excuse to invalidate your cover if they can avoid a payout mate!

That's what I was thinking. My insurers know it started life as an auto and is now a manual.

Guess I'll get onto the DVLA asap then to get the V5 changed...

Cheers!

Mines manual by default. I can check my V5 if you like, though fairly sure it doesn't state anything, but then if yours actually states 'Auto' then I imagine you should change it.
