the yellow one on the front water pipe, where can i buy this from please, my ECU check has shown code 13 and 34 coolant temp sensor, and det sensor.

also what effect does a bad coolant temp sensor have? as the only difference i notice when disconnecting it are a slight raise in RPMs..

The temp sensor is available from MJP trader on the forum, it can cause all sorts of running problems, the ecu will be reading erratic signals and trying to compensate. Rough idling etc.

your air con rad fan sould cut in and i will probably not fuel correctly due to ecu not seeing engine temp (under or over fuel) might go into a fail safe program

i have a secondhand temp sensor if you want can take it off and post FOC worth a try

worth checking wires havent coroded causing a bad connection or corroding off terminal as mine have lol

the unit itself looks fine, but the electric fan doesnt kick in, as for the fueling issue, i wouldnt know, as its always been a big drinker :-(

Think yer best reset the ECU mate, cos when that temp sender goes down it can make the car run like an absolute bag of crap and often not even start.

The sub fan should also come on.

The ECU may have registered a fault with it very recently that no longer exists.

car runs fine, starts fine, and never hesitates.... uses a lot of fuel though, and engine temp is a bit lower than normal all the time. may give z World a ring tomorow.

the way to test your fan is to disconnect one of the wires with the ignition on . the fan should start . if it dosent check the auxillary fan relay is in place in the engine bay main fuse box . these are sometimes used for the headlights as its the same relay . often they are missing .

That's why you need to reset the ECU and check for error codes again as the water temp sensor one should no longer be present.

When it gives error codes, it's not always whats wrong now, but what showed very recently when starting the car and thus may no longer exist.

Your excessive fuel usage could a few other things and would suggest a conzult test and timing check.

had it on a conzult at zworld a few months back timing was off, but corrected, and its still really bad. seems to be getting worse though, in terms of miles per tank, not miles to the cost of a tank as i know prices have risen.

have reset the ECU, same fault, relays are fine as i swapped the headlight to the fan relay and fan still doesnt come on... and ideas on the fan situation or cold running issue??

Then you need to take a trip back sometime as you can't have an ECU temp sensor fault and just have a wee bit of excessive fuel consumption.

With ignition on try unplugging the temp sensor does the fan come on?

Are you sure the ECU is reset as in today or yesterday?

On another Nissan i had, a worn TPS would gradually upset the timing over a period of time, reset TPS and timing all great for a few months until it started all over again.

yes i reset it both today and yesterday, if i disconnect the sensor with the engine on or off, (with ignition on) the fan doesnt come on, and this is with the relay switched with a working one, just to rule out the relay..

any ideas what causes bad fuel consumption, sounds daft but might the wrong spark plugs cause this. car has no fuel or boost leaks. timing is correct. no exhaust leaks, good o2 sensors, working MAF. just seems to drink alot, even on a SLOW steady cruise, the needle keeps creaping down, most 1/4s in the tank last about 30-40 miles. went from hald to 1/4 in about 40 miles today, all in 5th gear going no more than 65-70
