I've always wanted to drive abroad in my own car, hire cars are good but I'd love to take the Z over. Probably going to Cote d'Azur, which is right at the bottom of the country.

Has anyone got any advice or recommendations, obviously fully service the car and make sure I have european assistance? Is it a bad idea? LOL :helpsmilie:

As Nike say, Just Do IT :thumbup1: Went to LeMans in my mates Supra before i got my Zed, awesome trip. Gonna road trip it next year in convoy with a couple of others.

Its what the 300zx was made for Baz long distance touring:yes:

Agreed and will be a great drive for you and the zed mate!!!

you will love it mate, usually go every year through france and spain to portugal and its an amazing trip on the zed :cool3: . would be really cool if we had a club trip to france:punk:

Yup - I agree as well.....

.......go for it mate; I know I'd take my ZX on a trip like that. If it's been well looked after then you have noting to worry about - forget the horror stories about unreliability. It's a Nissan after all and I would not expect anything less than a great road trip!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I would absolutley LOVE to drive to Cote d'Azur which is actually near Monaco and surrounding areas!! if you went May they would be setting up for the grand prix so you could drive the track , we did this a few years ago in a diesel Alfa and was awesome, but to do this in the Zed would be on another level, Italy is only 45 mins away, Cannes is a few hours and so is Saint-Tropez , Awesome place and sights, Do it Bazza, and If you want a convoy then i would sacrifice the Nurburgring for this one!!!

Me too. Drove to the South of France in 2005 and always wanted to do another driving trip. Getting the ok from the wife to dissapear, leaving her and the kids is the tricky part.

Don't forget to take a high visibility jacket for each person that travelling in the car. French rules lol

and a fire extinguisher.this is my ultimate aim to take to zed through France but atm i dont think mines up to the challenge

Taken my zed 3 times now when going carp fishing near montlucon, about 7-8 hours from calais. lovely fast drive, and even better when its hot. get the tops off.

One bit of advice. if using toll roads, for example A14 to rouen. there is a very long stretch, no speed cameras or police. Naturally your zed might go a bit quicker than usual. which is great fun, but before you get to the next toll. park up a couple of miles before, and let the zed cool down, when you go through the toll it will show you average speed as being nice and slow, and the police wont stand in front of the barrier and give you a piece of paper for good measure..

do it................

do it! im hopefully planning on doing Le Mans this year in mine, and then a trip down to chamonix for a few days.

when i do go, im planning on making sure everything is well serviced, all the levels are topped up, and then also taking jump leads and footpump just in case, as well as the usual high vis, first aid kit, gb stickers and highlight deflectors.

plus, isnt petrol some 15p a litre cheaper in france?

who wants to organise a club outing then ? :)

With the exception of bringing my car back from gloucester when I bought it the most its done in the day is about 120 miles. Will be a challenge for it definately!

Will be off for a trip to zedworld when its back on the road for a big once over, but I'm excited about taking it on a holiday! lol

im thinking of doing this myself.my parents offerd the chance to go to the south of france in july..i dont want to be stuck in the back off a swb trooper so i want to take the zed..i mean drivin through the south of france with my girl and the targa's off its stuff dreams are made of

well said matey

Make sure you use super unleaded, had a really bad batch of normal stuff in middle of the country, prob been sitting for ages as everybody drives deisels. Super= no worries.

Great driving though and zeds love it.

Was looking at doing this myself as well. P & O are offering a day return to Calais for £19 and that included 6 bottles of wine until the end of March. Thinking of booking 2 seperate trips so we can have a few days driving there.

I'm in the process if planning a bit of a euro roadtrip too but it's so difficult! Got 5days to do it but torn between driving 7hrs a day and seeing the lakes, alps, south coast, monaco, etc....and just focussing on one thing!

Pus the guys that are going with me all have nice cars but aren't so up for driving that much each day. And then there's the option of heading to Nurburgring! Decisions decisions!!

Any ideas for a good drive would be more than welcome! lol

Did 1000miles in 7 days at xmas, apart from a couple of engine rebuilds, eleventy million tanks of fuel and 4 blown turbos - it was fine.

If you are going to France, make sure you understand their driving laws. Simply stating 'Je n'comprende pas' will not stop you getting instantly arse rogered by the gendarmes. If you really piss them off they'll take your car off you, put you in jail for a bit and then deport you. Then you'll have to go back and pick your car up.

Enjoy the driving - just don't take the piss speed wise, or be prepared to face the consequences:yinyang:

You're scaring me! :surrender:

But that does make me think of something a mate menrtioned....does anyone know whether any of the mainland EU countries have any strict rules against modified cars?? A mate of mine has a GT4 and was saying he had some issues in Switzerland with engine mods and larger than stock rims!!

Managed to get away with it but said it may be an issue...?

surley if its not a car registered to thier country laws like that dont apply as the car is running on british standards. otherwise you woiuld need a new certificate of roadability aka a mot for each country????
