Well after all the help, I have decided to keep it black, should I keep it the original black or is there a better make/shade.

You gotta be joking, who makes your decisions at home when you paint the walls fella, cos what we like is our choice, what you like should be influenced and liked by you.

Theres a Zillion Blacks, look at cars on the street and carparks etc that are black and pick one, it's what and most others do when choosing paint.

Seriously though, Nissan did the zed in 3 types of black iirc. GL1 was a Gloss black (no longer available from Nissan) and was used up to late '93ish. This was replaced by KH3 Gloss black that was a slightly different shade to GL1. There was also a metallic black but I cant remember what code that was or if it was JDM, USDM only.

The vast majority of Black Z's are metallic black - code 732

The GL1/KH3 is rarer and I personally prefer them over the metallic, which although it has a nice pearl affect under the sun the Plain black looks a lot darker/deeper shade of black without all the flake in it.

If it were me I'd probably be boring and stick with the original colour; if only just to avoid complications in future (eg, the VIN plate has the colour code if it ever goes into a bodyshop again at some point...).

But I reckon the best black is Mercedes Obsidian black. My old SLK was that colour and it looked superb when it was freshly polished on a sunny day......

......plus PhilP had one of his ZXs resprayed in that colour and believe me, it's awsome in the flesh!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
